Sunday's Stitchy Update...

 Yippee... it is Sunday again!

This weekend was Hermitting Weekend and I PLANNED on getting lots of stitching time...but you know how that goes!
I did manage to get in a few stitches on my
Lizzie*Kate ABC's of Parenting Friday night.

I have tried to use the sewing machine a few times this week.  It really tried to make me quit...and I gave up lots of times but I would just come back the next day!  It tried to get the best of me but I FINALLY won out!

This is a piece that I stitched many years ago and I found it when I was going thru some stash out in the garage and decided to make it my "practice" piece.  With money being tight at the moment (still not working) I took a shirt back out of the bag I have set aside for donations and cut out a piece of material for the back. I stitched and stitched on the sewing machine only to have the thread break, come out of the needle, jam up in the bobbin or just plain and simple - not be in the piece once I was "finished" stitching it!

Then Saturday I decided to try it one more time!  It took me 90 minutes but I finally got the three sides stitched up, then I stuffed it and did my version of a whip stitch to close it up.  Then I held it up to look at it and lo and behold - the hanger I put on it...ended up on the inside!
LOL  Oh well stitch and learn!

This weekend is also TUSAL weekend!
Here are my orts!  Lots of pretty pinks this time.

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching,
see ya next week with another faithful update!

Beautiful TUSAL and good job on your progress and finish! You're braver than I am with a sewing machine!

Good progress with your Lizzie*Kate and adorable basset hound pillow! I have many "disagreements" with my sewing machine, too.

Good progress on your LK. Haven't seen that one before - I will enjoy watching your progress.

Your pillow is lovely. Sorry to hear about the hanger, but I think we've all done that - more than once in my case. Gold stars for sticking with it in spite of your machine!

Orts are looking good as well.

I'm sorry but I just had to smile when reading about your sewing frustrations.

I learned to sew in 8th grade. Back in the 70's all girls were required to spend one semester in cooking and one in sewing class. Made all my own clothes in high school and college.

And I STILL experience the same frustrations as you do. A lot of it will disappear with practice. But my seam ripper seems to get more use than my machine.
Don't give up!

Your stitched piece is looking good and you did a great job on the pillow despite the sewing machine.

Hmph! I lost the comment I typed out, so here goes again...

Sounds like quite the battle of wills between you and the sewing machine! Kudos to you for re-using shirt fabric for the back. I love repurposing :)

Too bad you and Berly are a distance away... I could give you two some sewing classes/tips.
