My Sunday Stitchy Update 03/15/20

I hope everyone is staying safe during this trying time in the world concerning the fight against the COVID-19. It was just announced that schools here will be closed until at least March 27th. Luckily they were already on spring break for the upcoming week so if they go back as scheduled the year will be close to being on their regular schedule.

They said they are closing the schools to prevent the spread of the virus by eliminating the gathering of groups with 50 people or more. But in the next sentence they are trying to work with the churches in the area to provide childcare for the children whose parents cannot stay home with them everyday which isn't that putting them right back in large groups of people? Sometimes I just don't understand what people are thinking.

Anyways in the meantime. . . it was new start day here and I picked this leaflet to stitch something out of. I decided that I loved the top design when I saw it as I was looking for something that I could attach to the top of something else.

I thought it looked great on that purple background too especially since purple is the best color ever so I looked for some purple perforated paper and found this and thought it was perfect so I ordered it.

but when it came, this is what I got. What a stinkin disappointment! It is mostly white but I guess we know how those dye lots are. 😒

So I said ok, I will just go ahead and stitch it anyways. I had to pick between this or a tan color so I asked on FB which looked better with the floss toss and this one won. So stich, stitch, stitch and this is how it looked. I was a bit disappointed with the results of the bunnies because everything seemed to blend together into a beige ball.

And then came the back stitch and it really made all the difference!

I decided that I will paint the box with purple paint since the perforated paper didn't work out and then attach this to the top.

Thanks so much for stopping by,
stay safe everyone and see ya
next week with another faithful update!

Hello FAith,
the bunny looks very cute.
Here in Germany the schools are close until April 18th.

The paper looks so different from what you ordered to what you received but the bunnies came out really cute on it. The backstitching made all the difference!! I think painting the box purple is a great idea.
What to do with the children is a huge dilemma for working parents. I would hate to be in that situation. This virus has certainly turned our world upside down. Stay well....Hugs, Mary and RJ

The bunnies turned out adorable even though you were disappointed with the paper you ordered. Stay well and stitch on!

That is always so frustrating to get a purchase that looks so very different than what you see online! But, the bunnies are darling and your idea of using a purple-painted box will be perfect, Faith!

I love the way it turned out. Your right the backstitching made all the difference. Too cute. I'm so thankful I was able to be a stay at home mother. I don't know what working parents are to do. I've heard they may just be out the rest of the school year. No graduations. How crazy!

There seems to be something new closing every day, it's a different world for sure.
What an adorable pattern, but sorry that the fabric didn't come as you thought it would. I guess that's the problem if you can't see it for real. They still turned out great though, so cute!

I love these little bunnies. Nice stitching also, which I see on every piece you do. I've never worked with the perforated paper, and I was wondering if that could be painted as well. I do have a chart that is done on this paper, but it will be a first for me.
You and yours stay well during this time of this virus running wild. Our town started all the shut downs a few days ago.
Lots of stitches and colors to you Faith, my sweet friend.

So sad about the colour of the perforated paper, but your stitching turned out so beautiful! Love the idea of a purple box!

Be safe, Faith! Hugs x

Faith: This is such a cute design, I have ordered fabric in the past and have been disappointed at the color that arrives.
I hope you stay healthy.

The bunnies are very cute! It's amazing how much difference back-stitching can make. Our schools are sort of closed indefinitley - vulnerable students and those with parents in key roles, such as the NHS, are still able to go in. It's all so surreal x

Sorry about the perforated paper but, like you said, I've often found hand-dyed things to be disappointing too. Your bunnies look great though and have hopefully made up for at least some of the disappointment. Can't wait to see how you're going to attach them to the box. :)
