My Sunday Stitchy Update 01/26/25

Happy Sunday Everyone! 

I hope that you had a wonderful week and it was full of stitches!  We are still having some cold days here and I don't like it very much! By the end of the week we were back to the 70s but I think next week will be bringing some more chilly days. Everyone in my area has been getting sick since the temps have been fluctuating so much but hopefully winter will be over soon with any luck.

If you are in the area of the California wildfires I am still praying they will be over soon. I think that they have some of the smaller fires under control but there is always a chance that they will spark into another large one again. They need lots of rain and water to fight those fires so please, if you pray ask for those fires to finally be put to rest. 

Well I had another pretty busy week full of stitches, so let me show you what I did!

The first prompt called was #5 "Stitch something from a magazine." This piece came out of the Winter 2024 edition of the Just Cross Stitch magazine so it definitely qualified!

The next number called was 20! It said to "Stitch something inspired by your pet or someone else’s pet". Well we have five dogs so this was the ONLY logical piece!

After that the caller called number 21. That prompt said to "Stitch something that is part of a series." I have a few pieces that can be considered a series but I think this may be my oldest one. I would REALLY like to finish it someday.

Started adding the greenery on the trees which was 110 stitches!

Well here we are, coming up to the end of Brringo! Only TWO prompts left. The first one called was 24. Again I need to "Stitch something inspired by your zodiac sign!"  I'm not really into the zodiac or horoscopes but here is my sign, Virgo.  This piece was pretty easy but I would like to stitch the Virgo symbol on it because it looks so bare. I'll have to go over to Etsy and see if I can find one.

And last but not list the very last number called was 1! It stated "Stitch something that is a fantasy theme (ex: fancy ladies, mermaids, etc)." I think that Stitchie Witchie is pretty fancy looking, just look at that hat for starters! Her outfit will look great too once you get to see all of her.

And that is it for now. We play another version in September and I am already looking forward to it. But for now, I can stitch whatever I feel like doing so I planned out the last week of January to do one project a day.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 01/12/25

Welcome Friends! I hope you are having a great week. I am good and thankful. I had a crazy week but I came out of it on a positive note. 

If you are in the LA area I do hope you are in a safe space and I am definitely praying for you. Seeing all the devastation is truly heartbreaking and unbelievable. Please stay safe! 

So now let's move on to some happy news... the stitching! 

So the first thing I stitched was a new start! Because that was just what I needed, one more thing to stitch. I actually have a couple of other new small pieces lined up for January and then I want to concentrate on the pieces I have in the pile already before anything else gets started. I hope I can stick to that promise to  myself. 

So I found this piece in the Winter 2024 edition of the Just CrossStitch magazine and thought it fit my current mood so I added it to my stitching list. It also fit into my BBRINGO prompt called for the day which was number 14 "Stitch something with a bird." I think this bird is so cute!

So I got a start of 102 stitches.

So the next BRRINGO number called was 16 and that prompt was "Stitch something that intimidates you." So I moved over to the rainbow because sometimes doing the line on the diagonal gets me confused so I need to stitch a little slower so I can make sure I am stitching in the right place. I do love this piece though with the vibrant colors and how she switched from one color to another.

So on Wednesday the BRRINGO number caller called number 18. That prompt was "Stitch something that makes you want to bundle up", which is something I never want to have to do again but stitching it is ok! So this Winter SAL was the perfect fit for this one.

I drew some arrows to the area I stitched because it is hard to see.
I added 146 stitches to this one.

The next day the number 9 was called and it was an easy decision for me because I have been wanting to work on this one! The prompt was 'Stitch something that has a border' which led me to the Blackwork SAL!

I did manage to get in 100 stitches.

So after working on one of my favorites, I ended up moving to the one I dreaded. The number called was number 25 which was 'Stitch something with more than ten colors.' I had assigned the Dinosaurs to that number but with all the confetti I dread doing this one.

I only managed 30 stitches in over two hours but 30 is 30 more than before.

Then for the last one of the week she called number 15. This number called for me to "Stitch something that you were inspired to start by someone else (tell us who inspired you!)" so it was another easy pick!  Tia, my daughter inspired me to do this one for her because she loves the Stephen King movies. She found it online and sent it to me asking could I do it for her and who am I to say I wouldn't stitch it for her!?

So that is it for the week. Lots of little additions to many different pieces, but progress is progress. I hope to make some good progress next week. 

I am STILL cleaning up my stitchy stash which seems to take a long time but it took an even longer time to accumulate all this stuff. I guess trying to be realistic about what you will stitch in the future is time consuming, I hope to get through some more stuff again this week but will I ever be happy when I am finished.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 12/01/24

WOW, December already! Eek, that means it is crunchtime for Christmas stitching! I still need to finish the stitching on one ornament plus the back stitch on a couple. Then get them ready for the tree. I ALWAYS plan to get them done earlier than December but you know how plans go! I will have to work on them soon! 

This week I am just jumping right into the prompts because I have lots to do around the house.

This was the left over one that didn't get on last weeks post. The prompt was "Stitch on something that can fly." So I don't think I have ever seen a ghost but in any movie you watch the ghosts fly everywhere they go, even right through walls.

Now onto this week and my next stitch was "Home is Where the Dog Is." We can finally see the dog's outline against his house! Yay that means progress was made though there are still lots of stitches to stitch! Oh, the prompt was "Stitch a WIP with a frog, dog, bear or chicken" so this definitely qualifies.

The next prompt to be stitched was "Stitch on a WIP which has a dangerous creature in it." I don't know about you but I think a dinosaur is is pretty dangerous. I know I wouldn't want to be around one and I will NEVER go to Jurassic Park!

I have never used one of these floss organizers before but since I seem to spend most of my time threading my needle when working on Dinosaurs I thought this might help speed things up.

Next I needed to "Stitch on a WIP you would consider an experiment." Well with as many times as I had to frog this one I felt it was an experiment; after all aren't frogs used in experiments? Well I feel like I have had more than my fair share of them on the Blackwork SAL!

The next prompt was to "Stitch on a WIP that contains 2 of their powers (water, something fast, light, garden, animal or a tool)." Well all of these thing are featured in Nintendo games so it was a logical choice. The people are always fast and they need tools to do whatever they are attempting and the animals, I think they are in every game!

The next stitching prompt is very fitting for this next stitch. "Stitch on a WIP that you had forgotten about or wish you could forget about." I always forget to stitch it or I push the Christmas pieces to the bottom of my stitching pile because in my mind I have plenty of time to get to it later and then the next thing you know, it is December!

I managed to add 125 stitched on 11/29

The last one for this week is "Stitch on a WIP that needs a 1000 year hibernation (e.g. a  project that has been naughty and needs a time out or one you are bored of and needs to put away for a bit)." This piece is a VERY boring stitch. All you do is stitch the same color in a row all the way down to the end and then move on to the next color and do it again. I do love this piece but boring is the word of the day.

I stitched 111 coral stitches on 11/30.

Well that was the stitching for the week. I do hope that you guys are enjoying the pieces I stitched 

and how I decided on those pieces. I hope that they will do this same event in 2025. I like trying to pick out a piece for each prompt. Some of them take all week to figure out a reason! LOL 

If anyone feels like they might want to try this challenge come on over and join in on Facebook. The group is called Fandom Stitching Central. They do have other challenges to but this one is MY favorite. It is not required to stitch all the prompts because after all it is just for FUN! 

If you are going Christmas shopping please be vigilant and safe. Everywhere is bound to be crowded which makes it easier for thieves.
