My Sunday Stitchy Update 04/22/18

Hello Friends!

I hope you had a great week this week and were able to get in some time for yourself and maybe some stitching for Hermitting Weekend!

This weekend was Hermitting Weekend for stitchers. It is like a big stitch in but you stitch from the comfort of your favorite spot. You can click on the IHSW icon above to learn more about hermitting!

I was able to get in some stitchy time and worked on my first ever biscornu!

Biscornu

Progress as of 04/22/18

I received the chart, fabric (which was already cut into two small squares) and floss from a good friend who didn't want to stitch it way back in 2010 or 2011. I started it then but soon got bored with it and into the pile it went. Now as I am TRYING to empty the WIP Box of projects this one came up in rotation. Looking at the chart I realized there was NO possible way it was going to fit on that small piece of aida. Why didn't I realize that way back then? Who knows; maybe I had plans to change it then but since it was at the bottom of the box for so long I can't remember!

Ok... back on track! I changed the things I wanted to change on the chart I had and finished one of  the squares. I was just going to stitch it twice, once for the top and then again for the bottom but once I finished the first square I changed my mind. So I opened up PC Stitch and designed a simple square that could be the other side! It will look just like what you see on the right side, just flipped around to form the square. Then will be the tricky assembly but that will be for another week as it is time to put this back in the box and move on to the next thing.

So that brings me to the WIP Box. I think I have made an executive decision (since it is only me, I wasn't overruled!) about the four UFOs still left untouched in the box! Since I still have some new starts (and who doesn't prefer a NEW start to a UFO) I will work in the remaining UFOs when something is finished and moved out. I started feeling that I might NEVER get anything finished since it is hard to work on 18 different pieces and it seems as though it takes to long to get back to each project!

Next weekend will be WIPocalypse weekend!!
I hope you'll join in!

Well that was a long post, so I will go for now!

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching

My Sunday Stitchy Update 04/15/18

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I hope you had an awesome week; I did!!

Rachel, The Ten Hour Stitcher had a blogoversary giveaway not to long ago and I was the lucky winner! I asked for the GC to be for my favorite online store, Stoney Creek where you can always get a great bargain! Anyways... this week I received my order and here are my goodies.

They had the fabric on clearance for half price and one of them will be just the right size for the HaED I want to start this year! YAY I also got this cute bunny chart (I collect bunnies) Happy Easter by From the Heart and the Lizzie Kate Snowy String. Can't wait to stitch them both!

THANK YOU AGAIN RACHEL!

Now for the stitchy update... This week I stitched Christmas Rules and got in two rules!

Hello friends!

This week was hermitting week but I didn't get to much hermitting in today but I did manage some!
You can sign up to hermit with either the blog group or on Facebook or both!

The next lucky piece to make it out of the WIP Box is something I haven't touched in two years.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 01/21/18

This weekend was International Hermit and Stitch Weekend and I managed to get in some stitching!

What is IHSW you ask?

Glad you asked, this is the group explanation:

"International Hermit and Stitch Weekend takes place every 3rd full weekend of each month, from Friday till Sunday. In our very busy and hectic lives, IHSW is a chance for us to squirrel some time away for ourselves and "Hermit and Stitch." It is a time set aside to take care of us and our love for stitching."

For those of you on Facebook you can join in the fun by joining the group

I was on Friday

and this is my

Part 1 of  13 complete!

There is no backstitch outlines on the Rules charts but I am thinking the snowman may need to be outlined so he can be seen better.  Maybe a light grey color? What do you guys think?

Also I have decided to be a dropout! I quit the Stitch from Stash challenge! ha ha I have NOT bought anything and have no plans to but have decided that I don't "feel" like I need to submit a file every month to say that.

Well back to stitching some rules... hope I can get Rule One completed this week!

Evening friends!  I hope you all had a wonderful stitchy week!

This weekend was the weekend to hermit and I did just that!

For those who don't know, IHSW has moved from Random Ramblings

I hope if you are on FB that I will see you there!!

I managed to get in all the Xs on the piece I started this week which is Day 11 of the ornaments.

Progress as of 11/19/17

Now to get the backstitching and words across the top stitched and that will be another one finished!

I am stitching this series as a part of  the
that I am participating in.

I am planning on joining in next year as well as it has really helped to keep me on track with stitching some things for Christmas. Usually December gets here and I say darn it another year and nothing Christmasy stitched!

My Sunday Stitchy Update

Evening Friends!

This weekend was IHSW and I did manage to get in some stitching over the weekend!  It was not as much as I wanted but when is it ever? There never seems to be enough stitching hours in the world.

I did finish the first coaster in the set of four and start the second. I am doing these as a banner rather than coasters.

I will be continuing with this design as I would like to FINISH it by Halloween!  Wish me luck.

My Sunday Stitchy Update

Evening People...

A very quick post this week as I am continuing to work on Dinosaurs! I made some pretty good progress and I am stitching more than different blues which is nice but it makes for lots of confetti stitches.

I have two more weeks for Justine's Just One July and I still hope I can get lots stitched during that time!

It was also The International Hermit and Stitch Weekend! I did get in quite a bit of time on Saturday but Sunday was family day and we spent most of the day out going to see Ghost Busters, going to lunch and doing a little shopping.

My Sunday Stitchy Update

Just a quick update this week!

We have had family visiting from out of town and today we went to Brookfield Zoo and I am tired! This is the first time my grandson has really spent time with his cousin and though they are a bit over ten years apart that got along famously and dragged us from one end of the zoo to the other to see the exhibits! Heaven forbid we should just walk to the next exhibit in line!  ha ha

Trevor and Jacob
going to see the primates

Jacob seeing if his arms are as
long as an eagle's wing span

Trevor and Jacob
visiting the penguins

Jacob checking out the bison

So was the July weekend for
The International Hermit
and Stitch Weekend

I got in a little stitching on Dinosaurs
LOVE watching this come to life but
all the color changes drive me nuts!

Now Dinosaurs is going in back in the container and I think Stained Glass will come out for some stitching!

So were you able to get in any stitching this weekend??  If so what did you stitch on??

My Sunday Stitchy Update...

Hello Everyone!

This weekend was International Hermit and Stitch Weekend and to help do my part in stitching the weekend away on Saturday I attended the 2014 Chicago Stitching Get Together.  There were about 30 or so stitchers there from all over the US and Canada and it goes on for the entire weekend starting on Thursday and going thru Sunday. This is my 3rd time attending and I think a great time was had by all!

This is a picture of me, Mary my dear stitchy friend of many years and Genie a newer stitchy friend who is also the organizer of the event.

And here is my stitching for the week
I have continued working on
Stained Glass
All of the black is finished on the first page and now
I just need to finish filling it in with the variegated thread.
I think that I like how it is turning out.

My Sunday Stitchy Update and April IHSW

Hello Everyone - I hope that you had a wonderful Easter day. It was beautiful outside and we got to enjoy the day with the doors open and savor the sunshine!

This week I started physical therapy and let me tell you - it is not so much fun. It made me pretty exhausted and after I do those stinkin exercises I don't want to do anything else except sleep. The therapist is trying to strengthen my core; don't know if it is going to work or not but I am going to do what I can.

This was International Hermit and Stitch Weekend and I got in lots of stitching; so much that I even have a FINISH! yay

I finished Easter Eggs
Anna Waite Designs
Finished 04/19/14

I started this one in 2012,
so that is one more out of my WIP pile.

Did you manage to get in any stitching over the IHSW?

My Sunday Stitchy Update and IHSW

Hello from the STILL COLD and SNOWY Chicago!

I can't believe that winter is still hanging on! It is now officially the third snowiest winter for Chicago - EVER and the coldest March since the 1990s - oh joy. I will be so excited to see SPRING but it is not in the near forecast.

This weekend was IHSW
I got in very little stitching because
we had FAMILY WEEKEND!

We went to see Muppets Most Wanted,
(cute but long) then went out to dinner,
then came home and watched Frozen (great, I
loved it) and Baggage Claim (good but typical).

In between all that I did manage a few stitches on
Easter Eggs
Progress as of 03/23/14

Next week the rotation returns to

Sundays Stitchy Update...

Hi everyone!

Hoping you had a great week and a great IHSW weekend!

I really wanted to finish the Positive Thoughts piece this weekend but it didn't happen though I did get in lots of stitches but unfortunately half of them were "do-overs". On Saturday, I had more trouble with the little cottage than I could have EVER imagined! Then on Sunday - came computer problems...ugh - it is ALWAYS something.  First Outlook wouldn't work, my daughter and I worked on that for a while and FINALLY got it going again; then the internet wouldn't work on the computer, got it working then my virus software went crazy...all and all it has been a CRAZY weekend - hoping that is all past me know and things are moving in the right direction now and so I will try again tomorrow and pray for better luck with it.

Positive Thoughts
Progress as of 02/23/14

Though before the craziness of the weekend
started I did have a FINISH!

I finished all the stitching on
Charmed Teacher Sampler
DebBee's Designs
Finished 02/17/14
I still need to add the charms and I will do
that when I am getting ready to frame it.
I LOVE how it looks so far!

So did you have a better stitching weekend than I did?
I hope so, so leave me a comment and let me know!

Sundays Stitchy Update...

Hi everyone,
I hope you all had a productive and stitchy weekend!

I did manage to get in quite a bit of stitching this weekend for IHSW. I have been stitching a piece called Sports Balls which is a freebie by Cheryl Van Wormer and available on CyberStitchers.com
This is going to be for "Coach P" at my
grandson's school for an end of the year gift.
It is actually a pretty easy stitch
but oh...so much ORANGE! lol

So... did you get in any stitching for
International Hermit and Stitch Weekend?

If so let me know so I can stop
by your blog and check it out!!

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching

2014 Stitchy Plans!

I love when the new year comes - everything seems to have a clean slate and a new beginning!

I have quit making resolutions except for one and that is to be the best person I can be!

On the stitchy front though I have made a LONG OVERLY AMBITIOUS list of things I “want” to stitch. I am pretty sure I won't get to all of them but I am determined to try my very best!

Here is my list, some stuff is already started as noted below
  • Dimensions; Beaded Elegance Ornaments, Last Stitch-2004
  • Carla Rizzie; From My Heart To Yours, Last Stitch-2011
  • Joyful Expressions; His Name Is Jesus, Last Stitch-06/17/12
  • EMS; Flowers of the Month (June), Last Stitch-07/15/12
  • Anna Waite Designs; Easter Eggs, Last Stitch-07/29/12
  • Cross-Stitch-Art; Full Bloom, Last Stitch-09/02/12
  • Design Connection; Rose of Sharon, Last Stitch-11/18/12
  • Stephen Michael Gardner; Dinosaurs!, Last Stitch-10/05/13
  • Jardin Prive Positive; Thoughts, Last Stitch-12/28/13
  • Not Started   Teachers Gifts x4 - I think I have them all picked out
  • Not Started   Cross Stitch Gold Mag / July 2012 Wizard of Oz.
  • Not Started   Penguin Stocking (I can't recall the chart name right now)
  • Not Started   Lizzie*Kate One Hundred Years
  • Not Started   Dinosaur Clock
  • Not Started   Amy Bruecken Designs, Twirl
And the even better part is that ALL of this is in my stash already and I am quite sure I have more than enough fabric to do the ones that are not kitted up already.

I am also planning on participating in a bunch of monthly stitchy group blog SALs that I hope will help me focus on my stitching and blogging.

In 2014 I will continue on with the TUSAL, IHSW, YOTA and the new version of the WIPocalypse.  Every month Measi has listed different themes for us to write about so we can all get to know the stitchers we follow a little better and I am looking forward to this twist!  This year I also plan on starting with the Turtle Trot which encourages stitchers to work on their current UFOs and WIPs. Then there is one more and I am truly excited about this one because we are being encouraged to stitch from the stash pile that we already have in our house! It is called Stitch from Stash and I hope that this one will seriously help me make a dent in my stash pile while saving me a few dollars.

So do you have any plans for your 2014 stitching? Are you joining any of the above monthly stitching groups or another one out there in the cyberspace? Do you have a list of charts you must stitch in 2014?  Let me know - I would love to see what your plans are :)

Sunday Stitching Update...

...another one that is a day late ~ sorry about that but it has been a marvelous week full of fun, food, surprises and great family time! Both my daughter and grandson had off for the entire week and don't go back to school and work until after the new years!

I did stitch on Dinosaurs during the
IHSW and here is how it looks today.
I will get a better picture of it next time I do an update.

Also I cleaned out my TUSAL jar and
now have a new ORTament for my tree.
Here is my grandson posing with it,
he is such a ham  ;)

This week I worked on the latest installment of the
Positive Thoughts SAL from the website
(please excuse the wrinkles)
Can't wait for the next section to be released!

Yesterday I worked on putting my
Christmas present on bobbins

I made some labels for the bobbins

and I got all the floss on them!
they always look so pretty in the case!

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching

Sunday's Stitchy Update...

Hi everyone!

Hope you have had a fantastic week and got to get in a bit of stitching for the October International Hermit and Stitch Weekend.

I managed to get in some stitches...  I started a little of Mary's Sampler from Plum Street Samplers on Wednesday and caught it all up thru today's installment of the SAL.  I had to make a few "executive decisions" and change a couple of colors because I ended up doing it on white fabric so I couldn't see the sheep on the left side or the body of the angel.  Hope everything looks great at the end with the color changes! Anyways...here it is!

I almost forgot - I stitched a little something up on Tuesday that I found buried in my stash.
Yum!
