My Sunday Stitchy Update 12/31/23

Here we are; at the end of 2023.  I hope that this year was all you wanted it to be and that 2024 will be even better! 

I am just going to make this a short post because I don't have a lot to say and I still have to make the cookies I promised! But I just had to come here to say that I just put in the last stitch on Marmalade!! I am so happy that I got it in before the end of the year!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 12/24/23

Merry Christmas Eve Friends! 

Today we are having a lazy day where we are just chilling out with Christmas movies and not much else. Tonight we will open our Christmas Eve Box which has our new Christmas Jammies, socks and probably some hot chocolate. We used to go look at Christmas lights after we all changed into our new pjs but not many people seem to have decorated this year so I guess we will skip that. 😟

Now onto the reason you are really here ~ the stitching! 
Last night I finished the final block on Marmalade!

Now I need to add the border to my design. I am so happy to have gotten this piece to this point and now I would like to see if I can finish the border before the New Year shows up!

Well we have one more week before we put the new calendar up. Does anyone have any 2024 stitching plans they would like to share?

I have two or three new starts planned and I would also like to finish up a couple more UFO/WIPs that are in the box. I still need to look thru the box to decide on which ones but I think I may just wing it when I get to that point.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 12/10/23

Good Afternoon Friends! I hope everyone is doing well today and staying healthy. 

A couple of my local friends have come down with COVID so please stay safe out there because I am sure it is just as deadly as it was when it started. 

On to the stitching!
As you probably guessed I have continued on the same piece, Marmalade. I have moved on from the square I was working on to the next one which I am almost finished with.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 12/03/23

Well it has started! December is underway and that means lots of Christmas preparations! Put up the tree, decorate the house, make sure all the presents are bought and wrapped, make the cookies, finish the stitching, decide on Christmas dinner and buy the groceries and the list goes on and on... It seems like the each year the list gets longer and longer. I hope your December runs smoothly! 

This week I once again stitched Marmalade. This is my December Focus piece for the group Semi Sane Stitchers on FB. They have monthly challenges and games to help encourage you with your stitching. I joined a couple of months ago and I am enjoying it. Please feel free to check it out at the above link!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 11/26/23

This is going to be one of those short and sweet posts because it has been one of those kind of weeks! Busy, busy, busy but nothing seems to get finished! Drives me crazy when this happens. I am hoping to tie up all the loose ends this week so I can concentrate on stitching and finishing the ornaments! 

Our stitching group did meet in the mall on Friday for our regular get together and it was PACKED! I don't think I have seen that many cars in the lot since way before the corona virus and the lockdowns. There were tons of shoppers, a lot of loud music and about a 1,000 children running around in the play place. I was pretty glad when it was over so we could leave there and head back home. We did have fun though with the people watching! That is always a fun activity. 

This week I am still working on Marmalade. I am adding the seventh square - YIPPEE!!  Here is my progress:

I think this could be finished this year if I continue to stitch on it since there will only be two squares and the border left!! I think I can do it.

Hey Friends! How are you all doing today? I am doing good. 

I have finished my Christmas shopping except for maybe a few stocking stuffers and something for the dogs, the bird is already taken care of.  Do you guys have pets and do you buy them gifts for their birthdays and Christmas?  

This week I am still working on the same pieces. This is everything that I have stitched on the calendar tags.

So the square I started last week is another mini finish!! Makes me feel good to mark off those small finishes while working towards a larger one. I have now completed 6 of the 9 squares. It is getting there!

Well I would like to wish all those who celebrate Thanksgiving this week a great holiday. For Thanksgiving dinner since we really don't care for turkey that much we will be having homemade pizza for dinner. What will you be eating?

This week I continued to work on Marmalade for the week. I finished the square I was working on - yay! Once I was finished with that section which was the lower right square I move over to start the lower left square.

I love the symmetry of these blocks and that is what originally drew me to this chart. I am also drawn to many quilt block designs for this very reason and I have a few in my stash. Now I want to see how far I can get on this block before I post next Sunday!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 11/05/23

Good Afternoon Everyone!  I hope that you had a wonderful week. 

It was Halloween week and in anticipation of many trick or treaters we bought two large bags of candy and waited. And then we waited more and some more.  We finally had a couple of knocks at the door but it turned out to be pretty disappointing as we only ended up with seven trick or treaters for the entire day. Hopefully it will be better next year.

On the stitchy side I continued to work on the Nintendo SAL from last week.

Hi Friends! I hope all of you are doing well and that your weather is warming up some!  We have been warming up and are in the 80s and 90s. In a few weeks we will be in the 100s which is not my very favorite weather but it is up there in the top five and it sure beats being cold!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 05/28/23

Hello Everyone! This week I returned Nintendo to the WIP box and then I spun the wheel so I could pull a new WIP out of the box. The wheel landed on Marmalade! It is a design by Carolyn Manning of CM Designs and I love her designs but quite honestly a lot of them are all starting to look alike with the only difference being the colors. Not that that will stop me from stitching them!! So here it is...

And that is it for the week except for a couple of celebrations we had recently!

First up; Jacob (my Grandson) received his second Culinary Certificate!

He thought he might want to be a Chef but has since changed his mind and only wants to do home cooking which is fine with us! He hasn't mapped out his future yet but when you are 17 it is generally hard to decide on the rest of your life and he has plenty of time to decide. For now all he wants to do is work and have a good time.

Next up, we had an awesome celebration!
Jacob's High School Graduation!!

He was extremely happy to have received it.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 06/26/22

Hi everyone.  I hope you are all doing well and if you are where the temperatures are hot that you are able to keep cool.  Here they keep promising rain but I only saw a couple of little drizzle a few days ago, so I will just keep waiting and waiting... either way though it is a good excuse to stay in and look through my stitching stuff or actually stitch!

So in the stitching department I continued to stitch on Marmalade so that I could finally finish the middle row of blocks.

It seemed to take forever to fill in the background on these blocks but it is finally done. Then it was time to spin the magic wheel of stitching WIPs along with a few UFOs! This time it landed on a piece that hasn't been out of the WIP Box in two very long years!

I will keep this out and switch to CHRISTMAS IN JULY (information at the bottom of Rachel's post) hosted by Rachel on July 1st. I would LOVE to stitch at least four ornaments in July, but we all know how that goes with the best laid plans and all.

Then I will move on to something else on August 1st. I think I will call August ~ ALL MONTH AUGUST or something similar (any suggestions?) and stitch another UFO for the entire month. There is one that my grandson and other people here and on FB are always bugging me about (yes I am talking about you and you and that is the one I am planning!).

My Sunday Stitchy Update 06/19/22

Evening everyone!

I hope that you are having a relaxing day. This week it has been very hot here where I live.  During the week the temperatures were between 100F and 106F and yesterday we finally got a break in the weather as our high was only 95F. It is supposed tp be the start of our monsoon season but so far we have only had light drizzles. Since moving here I have missed the rain and thunderstorms; at least when they do no damage, so I am looking forward to the rain! Our ground is so dry that it will probably be soaked right in to it upon falling. The only problem is that our dogs hate the rain and the thunder. 

Well on to more important matters at hand ~ S T I T C H I N G !

Last week I spun the Tiny Decisions app a bit early (I guess I was anxious?) and it landed on Marmalade so I kept it out and continued to stitch on it. I made pretty good progress and have the left block finished and the right one has some decent progress on it.

And now I have to make a decision. I use the Tiny Decisions app to help me decide what I should stitch next.  I just spun the wheel and guess what; it landed on this again! I kind of wanted to stitch something else but my daughter said the wheel is the decision maker so I should keep this out another week. You know, it really wouldn't take much convincing to make me keep it out. 🤔

My Sunday Stitchy Update 06/05/22

Welcome everyone. I hope you are having a great week.

This week I started a new piece! I haven't had a new start in for a while and after the blackwork finish I felt I deserved something new.

One of my favorite designers is Carolyn Manning because I love symmetrical patterns and quilt square patterns. They have what I call a rhythm to them when you stitch them which I find very relaxing. Since I have a ton of these types of charts in my stash to stitch up "one of these days" I decided this was the day. I received this one recently for Mother's Day and they kitted it all up for me so all I had to do was start it!
