My Sunday Stitchy Update 03/22/26

Good Morning Stitchers! I hope you had a great week and that your weather has warmed up. Our weather has warmed up so much that we broke some records this week. Starting on the 18th thru today we have had record highs. I really don't mind but I do wonder what summer will have in store for us.

This week I continued stitching on the seasonal quilt and I finally finished the quilt!! I was so happy that the quilt was finished, at least until I looked at the next section! LOL  It is full of leaves that have fallen to the ground so that means a bunch of confetti. Luckily for me, it was not as bad as I thought it would be. 

I put in 819 stitches this week. 

Now this piece will be going away for a bit since it is time for me to work on a Peppermint Purple SAL. I swear I need more hours in a day along with more days in a week so I can get in more stitching!

I am STILL listening to The Drawing of the Three by Stephen King and now that it is almost finished, I am starting to get in to it! Story of my life, I guess. 

It was a pretty nice relaxing week and that is it for me!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 03/15/26

Morning Everyone! I hope you are having a great weekend. We are having terrific weather here. When I was young I thought this was normal for Arizona since they said it is "always hot in Arizona" and when you are young you take everything as literal. We have been between the 70s and 90s all March! It is even  supposed to be over 100 later this week! I must admit, it is even to hot for me this early in the year. Sorry if you were some of the people who had one summer day and then snow the next day. That was pretty crazy!

This week when I spun the wheel, I landed on The Autumn Seasonal Quilt and all week I have been trying to finish this darn quilt! I think that tomorrow it will finally be done and I can move on to other parts of this project; and to think that I have three more seasons to get through! 

So let's see what kind of progress I made...

As for the books I didn't do that good this week. I couldn't concentrate on listening or reading so I did neither. I did start the second book in the Dark Tower series; The Drawing of the Three. In my opinion. for what that's worth - it is just a little better than the first in terms of the back and forth, past, present and future. People keep telling me to hang in there, they get better... oh goodness; I certainly hope so!

Moving on to my head injury, it is still looking pretty ugly. I think I will call and see if I can get some antibiotics for the big bump on my forehead because it is looking pretty bad and I can't really tell if the swelling is going down or not. It is funny how people will avoid looking at or talking to you when you look like this!

Anyways. I think that is it from me for now.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 01/05/25

Happy New Year everyone! I hope that you are having a great 2025 so far and it will continue on that path. Everything is going well here. We have had another warm week though this week we will going down to the fifties for our high temperatures, I guess that means that our winter is finally creeping in. 

This week I worked a couple of days stitching on the Penguin but I changed fabrics before I continued so I could actually see what I was doing!

This ended up with 333 stitches

Then on the first BRRINGO started in one of my groups. No, I don't know why it is called or spelled that way but it is a cute word. But anyways it is like bingo but instead of numbers you have 25 prompts that are cross stitch related. You arrange them on your bingo card however you want to. Then the caller calls out a prompt number so you know where to stitch. Then you stitch whatever that prompt was an you mark it off. The only thing is we have to have full coverage and then she draws the winners name from all the full coverage cards. I just like the fun of it though and seeing what everyone else is stitching.

So the first number called was 14 and the prompt said "Stitch something that reminds you of a family picnic". I looked through my magazines and found a set of seasonal quilts. I decided to stitch one of them because whenever we went on a picnic my Mom would always bring an old quilt for us to sit on.

The next day the prompt called was 22 and it said "Stitch something of your choice" and I think that is my favorite prompt since I can just stitch on anything! So I pulled out the Stephen King House so I  could get in some stitches on it. I really want to finish the house so I can get started on the characters!

On Friday the 3rd they wanted us to "stitch something that reminds you of growth." Well I couldn't think of anything when I was filling out the sheet showing what I would stitch. But when I woke up the next day I thought why can't I use one of the flower designs. I picked one and said something like the flowers are always blooming which means they are always growing.

Managed to get in 185 stitches in the garden.

Then came Saturday! The prompt said the I should "Stitch something from my favorite designer!" So today my favorite designer is Peppermint Purple! I have noticed that the trouble with picking my favorite cross stitch anything is that my favorite keeps changing constantly! That is probably why I have so much stash. Oh well. you only live once.

Which brings us to today! YaY!! Today is another flower day. Prompt 10 said to "Stitch something with flowers" and I just so happen to have a piece with flowers! Imagine that! So I pulled out Flowers of the Month by EMS Designs. I am still working on the carnation and it is certainly trying to be difficult!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 07/28/24

Afternoon!

I hope you had a great stitching week. All in all mine was pretty good. We had some decent storms finally but a few were accompanied by some microbursts. A lot of trees have been uprooted and there were downed power lines in other places. Tornados and microbursts are very rare occurrences here but I guess that there are no more usual weather patterns. You just get what you get! 


So on to the stitching! 

I added a couple of days of  stitches to one of the Durene Jones' pieces.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 06/09/24

 Here we are... at Sunday once again! That also means it is time for my weekly update! 

This last week we have been in the hundreds every day.  Lots of stay in the house, drink water, wear light clothes and don't walk your dogs without their shoes warnings happening here; all of which are good advice! It is going to be the same this week which just means we will have to only go out when necessary but poor Jacob has to be outside when he is working at his piano moving job. They try to do everything early in the mornings but you know how that goes; some customers aren't available early so the hot parts of the day it is. 

Now on to this week's stitching!  I stitched on three different projects and one of them hasn't been out of the WIP Box in a very long time.

One day a couple of weeks ago, Jacob asked if I was ever going to finish Dinosaurs. As always when he asks this I felt bad about it still being in the dreaded WIP box and told him of course I will. So, I explained to him about the monthly acrostics that I am doing and that I haven't been able to work in the Dinos (even though it is not like I really tried). He said he didn't believe that I couldn't fit it in even ONE time so I knew I HAD to start including it and I will be darn if it didn't fit in on the first line of the acrostic I had for June! It was a sign I tell you! ha ha ha

So this month the first piece up is DINOSAURS!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 01/28/24

Morning all! Can you believe January is over already? It seems to have gone by so fast. I don't mind though because we are that much closer to spring and then my favorite... SUMMER! I enjoy the summer's warmer weather. When it is cold the arthritis dos not agree with the weather and I end up having quite a bit of pain and nobody likes that! What season is your favorite and why?

My Sunday Stitchy Update 08/13/23

Happy Sunday Friends!  I hope you are enjoying a nice relaxing weekend. 

Well just like that the streak of 100 degree days is OVER! On Tuesday we experienced a few thunder storms which caused our high temperature to only reach 99 degrees. The streak lasted 53 days from June 16th to August 7th. The very next day we reached 100 once again but we are not staying at that temperature day after day.

This week I have been working on the bear ornament and he has been giving me lots of trouble for some reason! The culprit is that hat of his and this is my third time stitching it and I am DETERMINED to finish it so I can put it to the side.

It was something with all the different red stitches that I kept miscounting and it was throwing things off! Then when I was doing the colors white and grey I noticed some more red squares that were wrong yesterday! I really want to finish it today so hopefully I won't find any more mistakes.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 08/06/23

I hope that all of you had a wonderful week! It is still very hot here in Tucson. Including today we have has a streak of 52 days of 100 degrees or more and they don't see a change for the next ten days unless we get a good storm. We will see what Mother Nature has in store for us! 

Well I feel like this has been a kinda slow stitching week for me. It has taken me the entire week to stitch Santa even though his hat was already stitched and he is a small guy (ornament wise). So I don't know why it took so long.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 06/25/23

Hello Everyone! I hope you are having a pleasant day today. We have had some extra hot days this week with temps in the 100s for most of the week. The temperature plans on staying there for at least the next ten days. Summer is here for sure!! 

Our dogs have a dog door and then run back into the house faster than they go out! They don't even bark at the neighbors or delivery people when it is this hot!

Here is my favorite picture of all our boys together.

They are all rescues and Damian and Appa came from the same home before they were surrendered to the shelter originally. At the shelter we only went in for one dog but they couldn't or wouldn't be separated so they both came home with us. At Christmas time Appa started getting very sick and losing so much weight that I was scared for him. When we were finally able to get him into the emergency vet (even the emergency vet had a long wait time) we found out the he has diabetes and is now mostly blind. Luckily he has lived in this house for six years so he knows where everything is (most of the time!) so he is able to get through the house easily and safely.

This week when I spun the wheel it landed on the Boo Banner piece! I haven't stitched on this one since October of 2022. I finished all the cross stitch on this page and started on the backstitch. I thought I could get some backstitching finished before I moved to the second page.

Unfortunately I was not able to work on  the Blackwork SAL this week because something is wrong with their website and the chart doesn't want to download. Hopefully they will fix it tomorrow.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 06/19/22

Evening everyone!

I hope that you are having a relaxing day. This week it has been very hot here where I live.  During the week the temperatures were between 100F and 106F and yesterday we finally got a break in the weather as our high was only 95F. It is supposed tp be the start of our monsoon season but so far we have only had light drizzles. Since moving here I have missed the rain and thunderstorms; at least when they do no damage, so I am looking forward to the rain! Our ground is so dry that it will probably be soaked right in to it upon falling. The only problem is that our dogs hate the rain and the thunder. 

Well on to more important matters at hand ~ S T I T C H I N G !

Last week I spun the Tiny Decisions app a bit early (I guess I was anxious?) and it landed on Marmalade so I kept it out and continued to stitch on it. I made pretty good progress and have the left block finished and the right one has some decent progress on it.
