September 2018 WIPocalypse Check-in

Here it is... three quarters of the year have passed us by already! I can't believe how quickly time seems to go. I know many people are making their plans for their 2019 projects already but I don't know what I really want to do yet! I may just keep working on my rotation and add in a few more projects since I have had some finishes this year. Decisions, decisions, decision; luckily I still have some time to think about it and make some of those decisions.

Now for the business at hand...

The September WIPocalypse Check-in!!

The WIPocalypse was created to encourage everyone to get in some progress on their projects before the world ends! Every month we show our progress and answer a fun question so that we can all get to know each other a little better.
Click on this badge to find out more information about this fun event
which is so graciously hosted by Measi over at Measi's Musings!

You can even join in if you like at any time and for
any months you want, there are NO HARD AND FAST RULES!

Progress as of 09/30/18

Question of the Month:
How do you keep your stitching stash organized?

This is a question that is kinda scary to me because it shows just how much stuff (all of it good) that I have in my XS Stash! So I will gladly show you some of it!

I have two complete sets (and some extra stragglers here and there) of DMC Floss with the exception of the newer colors that they have released and the Coloris line.

This is my floss cabinet where I keep my first set of DMC that I usually use.

The drawers of the cabinet are on the left and my second set of floss in floss trays are on the right.

This is how I store my charts.
They are all alphabetized by chart name. I have all the titles along
with the details of the charts listed in a database I created years ago.
I also have a couple of index card boxes with LK size charts.

Do NOT ask me how many charts I have because
I don't want to admit to how many there are! LOL
😁

Some of my fabric stash.
Somehow it never seems to stay organised!

And then of course there is the ever so important
WIP Box!
Each envelope has any special things that are needed for
the chart so I can keep it all together with the stitched piece.

Sometimes I just like to look thru some of this stuff to remind me of all the things I want to stitch or just to give myself a little pick-me-up!

Thanks for stopping by
and for looking at my stash
see ya at the end of next month
for another WIPocalypse update!

Question of the Month:
Which is more satisfying to you and why – the process of stitching a piece, or the finish?

This is a question I don't even have to think about! LOL  The stitching is always MUCH more satisfying to me. I love everything about stitching a piece; the selecting of the fabric and gathering the floss, the rhythm of the stitching and the picture appearing before your very eyes. Once I finish a piece I am often happy but left with an empty feeling. I miss the piece I have just finished and then I have to worry about the next step in the process... the FINAL FINISHING. That part usually flusters me and makes me just throw the piece into the drawer with the other finished projects!

Now you can go on over to see here what everyone else has stitched for the past month and what they prefer - the stitching of or finishing a piece!

Thanks for stopping by,
see ya at the end of next month
for another WIPocalypse update!

Question of the Month:
Half-year recap:  How are you doing with your goals so far this year?

I did not really have any stitching goals outside of completing the holiday banners by their holiday. It does look like I am on track to have both of those stitched up and ready to be displayed.

I also made up a rotation schedule which I have been sticking to for the most part. I "usually" stitch on a project for a week and then it goes back into the WIP Box and the next one comes out for it's week. Sometimes I may be in a groove with a certain piece and keep it out for another week but not that often.

My last goal is just to stitch when I want to and to ENJOY it and that is the goal/rule I love the best and it is the easiest to follow!

If  you want to check out other people's month of stitching and how they are doing with their goals click here and check them out!

Thanks for stopping by,
see ya at the end of next month

This month's question is one that could have a million answers!

Tell us what you think the ideal stitching retreat would include.

I have been to a few retreats and they are FUN! The most important parts of any retreat is friends (new and old), stitching and lots of food of course. Some other things I love seeing at retreats are designers, I love being able to talk to them in person while seeing all their designs. Another fun thing is meeting the people who sell the important things we all use when we are stitching like the people who dye the fabric we lust after. Also the ones that make the Q-Snap covers, needle minders, tote bags and, and, and... the list is ENDLESS! Another great thing at a retreat might be some of the people who run the LNS. Maybe all these vendors could bring a small selection of items to sell; I mean what is better than shopping and instant gratification??

I am sure there are many other things people would love to see at retreats so I will have to go around to see other stitcher's answers! If you want to see all the answers too check out this blog post for links to their answers!

Thanks for stopping by,
see ya next month for
another WIPocalypse update!

ps... I THINK my comments are finally fixed and back to normal. Thanks Katie and Jo!!
There are still no email notifications about comments from yahoo users but the others seem to work!
YAY!!

Question of the Month for May is:

Where do you love to shop for stash?

When I lived in Illinois I was LUCKY enough to have three cross stitch shops within about an hours drive from my home. When I had to have needed something I could just jump in the car and go shopping!

I would shop at either Inspired Needle, House of Stitches or Maddie Max which is now closed down. I never realized how fortunate I was to be able to go into one of these stores and shop for stash until I moved here to Tucson. Let me tell you... there is NOTHING here! To shop for needlework supplies now I would have to either drive over two hours (which I plan on doing one day) or settle for either Joann's, Michaels or Hobby Lobby and we all know how that is. Now I mostly shop online. I do a bunch of shopping at Stoney Creek and of course Etsy is a very dangerous place to browse when you are bored.

Thanks for stopping by,
see ya next month for
another WIPocalypse update!

You can see everyone that checked in this month here!
Now if you'll excuse me I need to go see what everyone is up to!
