Fully Finished SAL December 2021

It is time to link up with Rachel for the
final Fully Finished Gallery SAL of 2021

This is a fun SAL for stitcher's to show not only their finished stitched piece
but how they decided to finish it off for display around their home.

I know I have TONS of pieces I need to FFO but I tend to get stuck in that area, so I have one, or ok maybe two drawers just waiting for my confidence to show up so I can get them out and up some where. Maybe 2022 I can get a few things FFO'd for myself!

The Story of the Ornaments

Well if there is one thing that I will definitely fully finish each year we know that it is my Family's Christmas Ornaments. I started giving them to my kids way back when they were just two little kiddos. My son was in and out of the hospital a lot and I needed something to keep myself busy. Since I just taught myself to stitch it seemed logical to make them some ornaments for our tree. Since he was the one in the hospital, he had first pick when we were flipping thru the Just Cross Stitch Christmas issue and he chose Santa and my daughter picked a Snowman. 

Well every year since then (less one) they have received an ornament with the same character. My Grandson  arrived during the month of September. Well at three months he had no "personality" and was not drawn to any characters at that time (surprise - haha) so I waited for the next year and I watched to see what he liked and it was DINOSAURS and PENGUINS! Where ever we went he was amazed by them both; the zoo, the aquarium, the museum, the library and movies.  Luckily I had two choices so naturally I went with the penguins because how many dinosaur ornaments do you see for stitching every year?? He has since received a penguin each Christmas and many when it wasn't Christmas.

Then along came a niece!! No choice for her; sorry! That year I saw a cute reindeer ornament and that set her ornament journey in motion. Sometimes I stitch an extra or two and I send one out to a friend, especially if I think they need a little something extra that year.

Fully-Finished Gallery SAL June 2021

Hi, it's me again. 

I was just browsing some pages and went over to Rachel's place to read her posts and all of a sudden I saw one and thought...  HEY, I FINISHED SOME PIECES!!

I know it has been a minute or two and they are just some simple finished but hey, a finish is a finish! A little while ago I was working on these Coffee and Tea pieces at the request of my daughter and then imagine when she wanted me to FINISH them so she can hang them. I know, I know... she has some nerve but I did it for her.

Two of them got the simple hoop frame finish. 

Then I was at the dollar store where they had these plant pictures framed in a square wooden frame and for a dollar I thought I would give them a try. So I brought them home, removed the piece they had and used them to frame two of the pieces.

Then the last one I had an idea because of something I saw who knows where? I got on my favorite shopping site Amazon and ordered a red frame. Of course we already had white craft paint and paint brushes so I was on my way to an FFO. I thought that the polka dots on the picture should also be on the frame, At first the dots were coming out in different sizes to I got out my hole reinforcements that I use in my binder and put them on the frame and painted inside the circles and viola a finish was made!

They are all hanging in the drink area that Tia has made us.

Fully-Finished Gallery SAL May 2020

This month I finished a quick piece for Jacob!  I took two piece that were stitched up recently, It Really Do Be Like That and Take It Cheesy, put them together and made made him a little pillow out them.

 He LOVES it and immediately took it to his room to add to his pillow collection!

Fully-Finished Gallery SAL April 2020

I know, I know... it is strange seeing me participating in this SAL! I love stitching the pieces but I don't like "finishing" them but this time;

dun, dun, dun........

I have a finished item!

Last year I received this cute box from a friend and had an idea for something to do with it.

So I looked and looked for a chart that would do the job and I finally found one and stitched up Hip, Hop and Bob a few weeks ago!

Then I painted the box in a pretty shade of purple

and attached the bunnies to the top of the box!

I am quite pleased with the results! 

Next up... fill it with TREASURES!

December Fully Finished SAL

Well I have searched this house from top to bottom for the hanger for the Jingles Banner with NO luck whatsoever! I found hangers for Halloween, one that says Welcome, one with Hearts and one Christmas which was way to wide. The only solution I have is to buy another, so that the original one will show up. 😔

I know this will come as a surprise to one or two of you but I did do a bit of finishing this past weekend! LOL I cleaned off the sewing desk and finished my family's 2019 Christmas ornaments.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 02/10/19

Happy Sunday Everybody!

I hope everyone had a great and hopefully snow free week! Though I do hear that snow is in the forecast again but I guess it is winter.

So last week I started working on a Lizzie*Kate Snippet that was only supposed to take a couple of days. Well that plan didn't work out but it is finished now! Yay!!

So next comes the dreaded question... "what should I do with it now?" Well I thought maybe I should make it into a pillow ornament and hang it from my shelf of 'things' in my room. Hmmm...Good idea I tell myself!

Now the hunt is on! I need some fabric for the back. I was thinking something flowery but I don't have any in my stash. I am trying NOT to spend money on XS stuff this year (though I did buy an Etsy chart for $1.50, thanks Rachel!) So I decided to use some scrap aida I have. Then another thought pops in my head. Whenever someone read what I was stitching I would tell them 'and that's me!' so I decided to stitch that on some aida and use it for the back! 

I used the same border from the L*K design and looked through the letters to see what I could use. Most of them where there already; thank goodness, but I had to design a couple to fit in with the other lettering.

That brings me to the next step with this finish and a new SAL!

Rachel over at Ten Hour Stitcher has started a new SAL. It is called the Fully-Finished Gallery SAL. It is designed to encourage us to move things from our Finished Pile to our Fully Finished Pile. It will also be a place for us to display our finishes and drool over other people's finishes that have been completed during the last month. So I just HAD to finish this today so I could participate in the SAL!

An SAL with a Twist!

Well Stitchers we all know that when we finish stitching something that we have a dream. The dream is of finishing the piece off into "something" but in reality we know that we will take it and put it in "The Box" to be completed later!

Fellow Friend, Blogger and great Stitcher Rachel doesn't want you to put your stitched pieces in "The Box" anymore! She wants you to complete it into something! Whether you frame it and hang it, make it into a pillow, an ornament, a banner or whatever she just WANTS TO SEE IT DONE!

Because she wants to see your finished piece she is starting a new SAL! Here is where the twist comes in; this SAL will consist of showing your fully finished pieces for all to see. It sounds like an interesting idea and I think it will help encourage us to get those pieces out of the box and on to our finishing table!

I am looking forward to this SAL and hoping it helps me get some things finished off while giving me ideas for other stitched pieces.
