My Sunday Stitchy Update 05/21/23

Hi there everyone! I hope this finds you happily stitching away on  project.

Last week we had  power outage (a little Mother's Day gift from the electric company?) so I didn't get to post on Sunday. Then Monday came along and I got into my regular weekly stuff and then I forgot. Anyways, I have been busy stitching and even did a little sewing.

First up is the weekly releases of the Blackwork chart.

Weeks 19 & 20
#TheBlackworkStitchAlong

So next, do you remember all those weeks ago before I started Batman I spun the Tiny Decisions wheel and landed on Nintendo? I finally got to pull out Nintendo two weeks ago and the next square was Donkey Kong!

Progress 05/20/23

I am happy to report that Donkey Kong is finished! So when I finished that it was sewing time! I am not a great seamstress by any means but I can make a pillow without any problems!

So I thought maybe I should make some pillows instead of framing Batman. I mean, who doesn't like a pillow right? So I got busy and went shopping to find some backing fabric. Then I set out to make a pillow out of Batman for Matt's birthday.

Batman

Fully Finished 05/20/23

So after I made Batman into a pillow I still had a bunch of fabric leftover that I'll probably never use so I ended making him a set of pillows for either his bed or his chair; which ever he prefers. I gave them to him today and he liked them, so thankfully they were a success!

Now it is time to work on another piece so I just spun the wheel and it landed on a piece called Marmalade from CM Designs.

Thanks so much for stopping by,
see you next week with another faithful update!

I'm off to stitch now!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 01/01/23

Welcome to the first post of the new year!

I hope everyone will have a safe and happy 2023!

Do you make any resolutions to start off the new year?
I only make one and that is to do what makes me happy.

Today I want to show you the finished ornaments I did this year since the ones that have been mailed off have now been received.

Pagine Di Natale

2022 Family Christmas Ornaments

This week I continued to stitch away on my current project. I didn't quite finish my second page but maybe next time.

Progress 12/31/22

Now I plan on stitching this DMC kit Tia bought me for Christmas.

The Meditative Mandala
DMC
I love stitching this type of piece. She bought it at the local craft store but they are also sold at the DMC site and it looks like they have a wide variety of designs.

Well thanks for stopping by!

Again I hope you have a fabulous 2023 filled with lots of time for
stitching, crafting and doing whatever it is that makes you happy!

See ya next week with another faithful update!

Fully-Finished Gallery SAL April 2020

I know, I know... it is strange seeing me participating in this SAL! I love stitching the pieces but I don't like "finishing" them but this time;

dun, dun, dun........

I have a finished item!

Last year I received this cute box from a friend and had an idea for something to do with it.

So I looked and looked for a chart that would do the job and I finally found one and stitched up Hip, Hop and Bob a few weeks ago!

Then I painted the box in a pretty shade of purple

and attached the bunnies to the top of the box!

I am quite pleased with the results!
Next up... fill it with TREASURES!

Thank you to the kind person who sent the wooden box to me,
I will think of you every time I look at it!

Thanks for stopping by,
see ya next time!

December Fully Finished SAL

Well I have searched this house from top to bottom for the hanger for the Jingles Banner with NO luck whatsoever! I found hangers for Halloween, one that says Welcome, one with Hearts and one Christmas which was way to wide. The only solution I have is to buy another, so that the original one will show up. 😔

I know this will come as a surprise to one or two of you but I did do a bit of finishing this past weekend! LOL I cleaned off the sewing desk and finished my family's 2019 Christmas ornaments.

Starting with the top left they are:
Santa's Favorite, Daily Cross Stitch
Better Not Pout, The Stitcherhood
William's Winter Stocking Cap, Carolyn Manning Designs
Dashing Through the Woods, Lucie Heaton Cross Stitch Designs
Penguin with Star Garland, Passion Broderie 77
Warm Hands Warm Heart, The Little Stitcher

So now I participated in the first one of the year and the last one; bookends?! I hope to do better next year.

Now you should go on over to Rachel's blog;
so you can see what other people have
finished up this past month for the FFG SAL!

Thanks for stopping by!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 02/10/19

Happy Sunday Everybody!

I hope everyone had a great and hopefully snow free week! Though I do hear that snow is in the forecast again but I guess it is winter.

So last week I started working on a Lizzie*Kate Snippet that was only supposed to take a couple of days. Well that plan didn't work out but it is finished now! Yay!!

Good Things
Snippet
Designer - Lizzie*Kate
First Stitch 02/02/19
Finished 02/06/19

So next comes the dreaded question... "what should I do with it now?" Well I thought maybe I should make it into a pillow ornament and hang it from my shelf of 'things' in my room. Hmmm...Good idea I tell myself!

Now the hunt is on! I need some fabric for the back. I was thinking something flowery but I don't have any in my stash. I am trying NOT to spend money on XS stuff this year (though I did buy an Etsy chart for $1.50, thanks Rachel!) So I decided to use some scrap aida I have. Then another thought pops in my head. Whenever someone read what I was stitching I would tell them 'and that's me!' so I decided to stitch that on some aida and use it for the back!

I used the same border from the L*K design and looked through the letters to see what I could use. Most of them where there already; thank goodness, but I had to design a couple to fit in with the other lettering.

That brings me to the next step with this finish and a new SAL!

Rachel over at Ten Hour Stitcher has started a new SAL. It is called the Fully-Finished Gallery SAL. It is designed to encourage us to move things from our Finished Pile to our Fully Finished Pile. It will also be a place for us to display our finishes and drool over other people's finishes that have been completed during the last month. So I just HAD to finish this today so I could participate in the SAL!

And now presenting my fully finished

Good Things
Pillow Ornament

Finished 02/10/19

I would like to encourage you to check out the Fully-Finished Gallery SAL; even of you don't have one to share this month. I think there will be lots of gorgeous pieces for you to enjoy.

Sorry I didn't mean to talk so much! LOL

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching
see ya next week with another faithful update!

Well I got brave...

I have ALWAYS been nervous about the finishing process for my projects.

I worry that I will cut it wrong, sew it wrong, iron and burn it, well you get the idea... the list could go on and on and on!

I have been emailing with Rachel and with her encouragement in my mind I cleaned off my sewing desk and got busy! It didn't quite turn out the way my mind's eye saw it but I think it turned out pretty darn good.

So I am now presenting my first of hopefully many, finished bellpulls!

Scary Night Halloween
Designer - Stoney Creek

This was completed with all the threads, fabric and bell pull holder recommended by Stoney Creek.

I really wanted to show some of the purple fabric (like a border) on the front of the piece but I think I cut the backing fabric wrong and then couldn't figure out how to "wrap it around" and finish it. I think I may have to practice on some scrap material.

Thanks for all your ideas and encouragement Rachel!

Thanks for stopping by,
see ya next time!
