My Sunday Stitchy Update 01/22/23

Good Afternoon Everyone! I hope that you are having a great day.

This week we are having a horrible cold snap here in the desert. The morning have been in the 20s or 30s! Brrr I know it is colder in other parts of the country but I think that in the desert it should always be hot or at the very least warm.

This week in my stitching department I finished up one piece and started more!  So let's get to it. The first one up is the finish. I finished stitching this on Tuesday.

The Meditative Mandala
(Circle)
Finished 01/17/23

The Mandalas use DMC thread and I did NOT mark up the charts so if you would like them send me a message and if you are the first one then I will mail them out to you. I just want to start cleaning things out of my stitching pile that I won't be using anymore!!

Then I thought I would start something else new and I wanted to get this Christmas SAL stitched up and it looks like wouldn't take to long so it seemed like it was meant to be. I had a piece of blue fabric I wanted to use for it so I went into my stash to get it and I can't find it anywhere! I had a pile of colored fabric along with some black but I don't know where I put it!!  So I looked for some other color fabric because I didn't want to use white and I wasn't really in the mood to dye any. All the fabric I found was to short or just not the right color for me. Out of desperation I found a piece of fabric I thought might work even though I don't like it because the fabric is very stiff. Luckily or unluckily (depends on how you look at it) the floss colors didn't work with this fabric!

The Christmas Banner
Designer - Alyssa
Stitched and stopped on 01/18/23
Once I find my blue piece of fabric I plan on starting again!

Just an FYI ~ Alyssa usually has two or three free SALs a year so if you are interested you can sign up for her newsletter. She mentions them in her newsletter and reminds you to go sign up for the SAL. Once she has distributed all the parts she removes the free files and puts them up for sale.

So now the dilemma of finding a new piece to stitch. So I looked around and decided to start The Blackwork SAL! I found a piece of fabric that I was satisfied with and looked through my floss cabinet for some floss. I decided to do it all in one color and the color is orange. Why orange? I don't know except that I don't really have anything stitched in orange so I thought why not, I think it would be a good choice!

Another FYI ~ This is another designer who offers many free charts through out the year. One year she had a cute Christmas ornament each month. Just sign up for their newsletter so you know when they are posted to their page!

Well I think I have given you guys was to much
to read for today so I am going to wrap this up now!

Thanks so much for stopping by,
see you next week with another faithful update!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 01/15/23

Happy Sunday Everyone! I hope you are having a fantastic week.

Last week I showed you the progress I had made on the Square Mandala and this week I can show you that it's finish!

The Meditative Mandala
(Square)
Finished 01/08/23

I love how it turned out!
I then got a start on the Circle one.

The Meditative Mandala
(Circle)
Progress 01/15/23

I don't think this one will be finished by tomorrow but maybe Tuesday instead. The pink seemed to take forever to stitch! I also still need to move the q-snap so I can stitch up the left side.

Well that is it for today!
Thanks so much for stopping by,
see you next week with another faithful update!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 01/08/23

Hello Everyone.  I hope your 2023 is off to  great start!!

Do you have a lot of craft projects lined up for the year? Or are you a person who just picks something as you go?

I used to be a person who made these big elaborate plans deciding what to stitch for the entire year and getting everything all kitted up and ready to go but now I think I like the 'just decide as I go' approach. When I get bored with something I will just put it away and get out something else. Or if I am enjoying something I will just keep stitching that piece. I think this way will be less stressful! I will only plan one "event" for myself which is Christmas in July so I can be sure to have my family's' yearly ornaments ready Well... maybe I will plan two because I love stitching Halloween and October seems perfect for that! But that is it, just the two!!

Ok, enough of that; let me show you my weekly stitching. Last week I showed you what I planned on stitching this week and I got quite a bit done on it.

The Meditative Mandala
Progress 01/08/23

I see it is a bit crooked - sorry about that!

Now I am off to see if I can finish it this afternoon
but if not, well that is what tomorrow is for.

Thanks for stopping by,
hope to see you again next week!

I only make one and that is to do what makes me happy.

I love stitching this type of piece. She bought it at the local craft store but they are also sold at the DMC site and it looks like they have a wide variety of designs.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 10/29/17

First things first, I had some happy mail this week!

First off I would like to say Thank You to Tiffany over at TiffStitches a blog for the wonderful leaflet she sent to me.  She was clearing out a few things from her stash and she asked if I would like something and I picked...

Santa's 12 Days of Christmas
Days 5 - 8
Designer - The Prairie Schooler
Now I will be hunting for
the other days in the series!

Then I received my order from DMC! I ordered the new colors. Yes, I promised myself I wouldn't but something just came over me and well here they are in my stash!

Here they are in their tin case
which was much larger
than I thought it would be!
and here they are in all their
beautiful colorful glory!
 Such a wonderful sight!
Now to bobbinate them and put them in my floss cabinet.

Then I went to pick up the ceramics we painted last weekend.

The pictures show how they looked
before and after they were fired.

My Sunday Stitchy Update

I AM BACK!

What do you mean have I been gone? LOL Seems like I have been gone forever and I missed some updates including the WIPocalypse and IHSW along with a few weekly updates but...my computer decided it "needed" to go into the hospital and get some repairs because it had Blue Screenitis. I worked on it a few days with NO luck so I ended up having to take it in to be repaired. They had it for a while and ended up having to reinstall windows to get it running! The good thing is that MOST of my files where still in tact because I have NOT done a backup in who-knows-how-long and I didn't want to lose anything. So...I guess I will start backing up my computer MORE OFTEN!

So while I was going thru separation anxiety I was to depressed to do any stitching.  When they finally said the computer was ready and I would get it back in a couple of days I started feeling a bit better so I worked on the finishing touches for Jacob's teachers pieces and getting them ready to frame.  Pictures of that stuff to come later when they are all done.

So...since my last post I have received some new stash! For Mother's Day my daughter bought me a chart for an upcoming Facebook SAL hosted by Bev from Love Thy Thread.

I wanted to do this chart (I don't think it has a name besides #3)

and she also gave me this floss to stitch it with

Now I need to hurry up and hunt for
some fabric since it starts on the 1st of June!

I also had a finish since my last update.
I finished Darth Vader's Dark Side
I made it in to a small pillow for my son's birthday.
I added the cookies myself after I saw a
friend's finish where she added cookie buttons.

While sitting around reinstalling programs and
setting up my computer I started a new kit.

Jiffy's
Today Is Not Your Day!

Didn't get much stitched while
installing programs but it is a start!

Well back to working on my computer -
hope I will have everything finished with it soon

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching
see ya next week with another faithful update!

Sunday Stitching Update...

...another one that is a day late ~ sorry about that but it has been a marvelous week full of fun, food, surprises and great family time! Both my daughter and grandson had off for the entire week and don't go back to school and work until after the new years!

I did stitch on Dinosaurs during the
IHSW and here is how it looks today.
I will get a better picture of it next time I do an update.

Also I cleaned out my TUSAL jar and
now have a new ORTament for my tree.
Here is my grandson posing with it,
he is such a ham  ;)

This week I worked on the latest installment of the
Positive Thoughts SAL from the website
(please excuse the wrinkles)
Can't wait for the next section to be released!

Yesterday I worked on putting my
Christmas present on bobbins

I made some labels for the bobbins

and I got all the floss on them!
they always look so pretty in the case!

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching
see ya next week with another faithful update!
