My Sunday Stitchy Update 07/07/24

Well here we are... Another week, another post! 😊

Nothing exciting happening in my part of the world. I think it is just to darn hot for people to do anything besides nothing. I did go and meet my friends in the mall for our stitching gathering and I put the sun visor in the front window when I got out of the car. Three hours later when I got back to my car it was so hot in there I couldn't even touch my seatbelt without burning my fingers! I think I need a cover for my entire car to keep it cool. I hope it is not that hot where you are.

Well on to the stitching... This week I only stitched on two pieces. The first one is one of my Christmas ornaments!

Small Christmas Ornaments
Santa
Durene Jones

Progress 07/03/24
516 stitches added

He still needs a little backstitching and I plan on getting it in soon! I think he is pretty adorable though!!

Next it was Independence Day here in the United States so for one of my challenges we had to start something patriotic. We needed to stitch either 500, 1000 or 1776 stitches in four days. As you can probably tell I went for the 500 stitches!

Long May You Stitch
Lucy Beam from
Love In Stitches
Progress 07/04/24
506 stitches

Now I am going to put this away for a couple of days and find another WIP to work on.

So I am off to spin the wheel to see what I land on!

Thanks for stopping by and checking
out my stitches, I appreciate it!

Have a great week and I hope you get in lots of Xs.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 05/12/24

Welcome to my place today!

To the Moms, Dads, Grandparents, Sisters, Brothers, Aunts, Uncles, and Friends along with all the others who stepped in as a mother or caretaker of children...

H A P P Y   M O T H E R S   D A Y !
Know that you are truly appreciated.

This week I spent my time stitching on the following projects.

My Christmas Ornaments for my family the year. I am going to have to start getting some more stitches in on these if I want them finished for Christmas!

Small Christmas Ornaments
Santa

Progress 05/06/24
211 stitches added

Then I picked up my Blackwork piece to stitch next. This is the second page finished out of six. I think all the rest of the pages are partials.

2024 Blackwork SAL
Progress 05/09/24
203 stitches added

Then I spent a couple of days working on Home is Where the Dog Is! I kept messing up the stitching and having to frog over and over again! I just couldn't get the words on the bottom to line up right.

Home is Where the Dog Is
Progress 05/10/24
122 stitches added

So that is it on the stitching front! I added a total of 536 stitches this week. I was in a stitching slump for part of the week and didn't even want to stitch. I was only putting in enough stitches each day so I wouldn't break my streak, but I think I am over it now!

I hope you had a great week and enjoyed some stitching time too!

I hope to see you again next week
with another faithful update!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 07/116/23

Hello, hello, hello! Here we are at Sunday once again. I hope that you have had a wonderful week. It has been pretty quiet around here which is perfect for me!

This week I FINALLY finished the SAL!

The Blackwork Stitch Along
Designers - Rhona and Eirinn Norrie
First Stitch 01/19/23
Last Stitch 07/11/23

I had decided to stitch one of the borders that they provided but after I stitched two sides of this one I just couldn't get passed how the corners looked. Each corner is designed like this and I felt that the corners do not end in a "perfect" rounding so I ripped it out and made this simple border based on their border which I like much better. Now I need to find some fabric to make this into a pillow, so I will have to find some time to go thru my fabric stash to see what I have and get to the sewing machine.

Once I finished that it was time for my Christmas In July stitching. So I searched for a chart I liked and one that looked kind of simple. So over to Etsy I shall go! LOL  I found a bunch of ornaments but decided I wanted it to be all whole stitches so I could work them on plastic canvas - that makes for easy stitching and easier finishing!

This is the design I decided on in the end.

Christmas Mini Ornaments

I think they are both cute and whimsical!

So this is my start on the Penguin, my first ornament.
Progress 07/15/23

So that is all for the week; one finish and one new start.

Thanks so much for stopping by to see what I am up to,
see you next week with another faithful update!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 12/09/18

This week I have been diligently working on my Christmas ornaments!

I started the week working on Jacob's ornament. He gets penguins each year.

Two Penguins
Designer - Corinne
Progress as of 12/08/18

I got thru half with one of the penguins on his ornament and decided I should be working on the one that needs to go in the mail! So I put his to the side and started one for Abby. Each year she gets a reindeer or a moose.

Dashing Through the Snow
Progress as of 12/09/18

This one is in this years Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament magazine. There is another ornament that goes with this one and I will probably do that one for next year.

I hope everyone else is working hard on their last minute Christmas projects!

My Sunday Stitchy Update

Hello...

I hope that where ever you live you are not affected by the cold front and/or snow! I am enjoying the sunshine and our warmer temps.  Moving to Arizona was the best move I ever made; in my opinion!

This week I have been busy stitching my fingers off.  Of course I think it is way easier to stitch on plastic canvas - it seems so quick!  I have two new finishes for the week and three small new starts; all Christmas ornaments.

First finish...
Roly Poly Nick
Designer - Hands On Design
2013 Ornaments Issue
Finished 12/07/16

Next finish...
Snowman Love
2016 Ornaments Issue
Finished 12/10/16

And the new starts...
Initial Ornaments
Faithfully Stitching Designs
Progress as of 12/11/16

I designed these little ornaments using my PCStitch program and one of the alphabets they provide. They are super quick to stitch up and SHOULD be done tomorrow. Then I will decide if I want to stitch another ornament or not!

My Sunday Stitchy Update

Well... Dorothy did not show up this week to get any work done on her; so I did a bit of sewing instead!

I experimented with making a set of place mats and napkins for the household.  The ones we have are definitely getting warn from all the washing they go through so I figured what can it hurt!  LOL  Anyways I cut and pinned and sewed and ended up with these!

Not to bad! I learned some tips and things I should do for the next time along the way so the next set should be better but these are totally functional and even look kinda cute.

Then I decided to stitch up an Arizona Christmas tree ornament on plastic canvas for Jacob for this year as that was our "main event" moving across country to Arizona from Illinois. When I finished that one my daughter said "You should do an Illinois one too" so... back to the drawing board (or in my case PC Stitch) to draw the outline of Illinois and then I stitched it up today.

The star is supposed to be on Tucson

This star is supposed to be on Chicago

This week I hope to get them backed and hanging on the tree which Tia and Jacob put up over the weekend. They are half way finished with the Christmas decorating and will probably finish up this coming weekend. Can't wait to have a warmer Christmas this year!

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching
see ya next week with another faithful update,
maybe Dorothy will even show up sometime this week!

Sunday's Stitchy Update...

This week I finished stitching a little ornament for Jacob for Christmas.  The design was small so I figured it wouldn't take much time...right?  Well that was wrong.  LOL  I must have started this piece 5 times!!  First I found a mistake and I ripped it out and started over...then another mistake and I couldn't even get the floss out of the fabric and what I did get out left red marks!  So I threw it away and found another piece of fabric and started it over, and over and then one more time just to get everything right - ugh...so much stitching on such a tiny piece.  But now it is FINALLY finished - thank goodness now I just have to make it up into an ornament!

Sunday's Stitchy Update...

Well Sunday seems to have snuck up on me because I didn't get in as much stitching as I wanted to.  I did finish all the cross stitches except with the metallic and I am TRYING to do that now.

This is how it looks now
Santa Stop Here
Joan Elliott for Design Works
After the metallic, I will do the back stitching and then I will mount it on the felt and dowel.  HOPEFULLY that will ALL get done this week!

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching,
see ya next week with another faithful update!
(and hopefully a finish!)

Sunday's Stitchy Update...

This weekend was International Hermit and Stitching Weekend and I did manage to get in a few Xs.

The piece that I was stitching from my
rotation is Design Connection's Rose of Sharon.
I finished one more square!
I love this design and can't wait
for it to come up in rotation again.

Next I had a new start!
Jacob (my grandson) encouraged me to start this, so I
have to blame him for the new addition into my rotation.

This is my progress after a few hours
I think this will be this week's piece.
This is designed by Joan Elliott

Let me know if  you managed to get in a few Xs too
for IHSW I would love to take a peek if you did!!

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching...

Sunday's Stitchy Update...

This week I did not get in lots of stitching time but I did finish Jacob's Penguin cup
I used a freebie Penguin from the Babybook Zoo collection from the EMS Cross Stitch Board and added the lettering in PC Stitch.

Then on Friday I picked up Rose of Sharon... and frogged it three times that same day.  Saturday and Sunday seemed to be better stitching days and I think since I didn't pick it up until Friday I will keep it out next week.

Sunday's Stitchy Update...

Time for the weekly update!

I was going thru some of my stash and found these four Stitch A Mugs and what luck...there are four people in our family.  So I am making one for each of us for Christmas ;)

The first one I stitched up is for my
son who loves both reading and tea.
I found a bookmark with this C.S. Lewis quote
on it designed by Connie G Barwick and I
rearranged it a bit to fit on the cup.

Next up is the one for my daughter but...
since she is a reader of this blog I can't show you
what I put on her cup until after Christmas!
The best I can tell you is it is FINISHED!

Next one on the list was one for Jacob
He is a penguin lover so...I used the penguin from the
EMS Cross Stitch Board and added the lettering for his
cup. I hope to be finished with it tomorrow.
Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching,
see ya next week with another faithful update!

Weekly Update

The weather here this week is COLD and UGLY! Friday the windchill was beyond cold! I am patiently waiting for Spring to get here...then when it gets here I will be waiting for SUMMER!

Saturday we took Jacob to Lowes. They have free projects there for the kids to make and take once or twice a month. This week he made a ball toss. He enjoys making the crafts and this one was actually something he could play with. Here he is in building action!

Then I had to go to Michael's cuz I needed some floss for my L*Ks along with some other little odds and ends ;) I am so DISAPPOINTED with these craft stores! It seems as though NOBODY carries cross stitch stuff anymore; they have one little aisle for cross stitch supplies and it is all the way in the back of the store in a "forgotten" corner; oh well...at I guess I should be grateful that they still have floss!

STITCHING
Anyways...I did get the floss I needed so I stitched up a some more of the L*K's. I finished Song and Giving and Caring.

Couple more weeks they should all be finished. I am missing the last two; Home and Peace and have them on order at the LNS and hope to pick them up this Saturday. Haven't been to a LNS in a LONG TIME so it should be fun...I can't wait!

This week I also started on the Monthly SAL from San-Man - didn't get to far on it BUT at least it is started!

MOVIES
This week in the movie department we watched Tortilla Soup (cute) and The Cure (excellant and recommended). We also watched something on Lifetime Movie Network Confined (it was just ok...) For our family movie Jacob picked Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole which I don't think he watched one minute of and neither did anyone else! Needless to say...not recommended!!

BOOKS
This week I listened to two more books by Lisa Gardner. They were The Other Daughter and Survivors Club. They were both pretty good ~ like Survivors Club the best out of the two. I also finished The Edge; which was great and start another Lee Child book Persuader..gotta love that Joe Reacher!

WEIGHT
Almost forgot...I had a good week this week lost 1.8 this week! YIPPEE!! :)
Thanks for stopping by...have a blessed week and I will see ya next time!

Weekly Update

Wellllll...Another week has gone by and I am back!

WEIGHT WATCHERS
Forgot to mention that for the new year I rejoined Weight Watchers... I am attempting to do it online. Not sure if that is going to be a good way to do it or not but I am going to give it a try. They really changed their program recently so I have to learn it all over again. My daughter; Tia is doing it also so we can support each other with this. WISH US LUCK I need to drop AT LEAST 30 pounds but would like to lose 40. This week I lost another 0.6 for a total of 2.6 since the beginning of the year.

BOOKS
This week I am still listening to Lisa Gardner books...I heard the 4 books in the DD Warren Series. They were Alone, Hide, The Neighbor and Live to Tell. At the same time I am reading Jeffery Deaver's Edge on the train on the way back and forth to work. I REALLY like EDGE and would recommend it. To see what books are about or to read a little about fiction authors I use a site called Fantastic Fiction. This site is REALLY a big help to me and has added hundreds of books to my "must read" list!

WEATHER
Winter is here ~ bah humbug! Tuesday is started snowing EARLY in the morning and kept on snowing until sometime Wednesday! I *think* I was born in the wrong part of the country because I LOVE the warm, ok not warm...but the HOT weather!!! I would love to move to a much HOTTER state one day...one day

STITCHING
Still stitching on the L*K Blessings. This week I finished Hope, Charity, Joy and started Song. I don't have one color for Song so darn it...looks like I have to go to Joann's to go shopping! Wishing now I hadn't stitched them on white cuz some of the stitching is hard to see. Hopefully when I get them finished you can see the white a bit better. Anyways here they are... ;P

MOVIES
This week we watched Alpha and Omega (kid movie - cute), Case 39 (great) Despicable Me (another cute kiddo movie) and Flipped (very cute) on DVD and a Lifetime Movie Bond of Silence (good).
