Sunday's Stitchy Update...

Here is is Sunday again! And day 8 of the Crazy 2012 Cross Stitch Challenge! I have been making plenty of stitchy progress – hope it continues like this through the year

I already posted the first four pieces in an earlier post so here are the next four…

Day 5 was Thursday and I started Sue Hillis’ DysFUNctional ~ I LOVE the colors in this one!
Then Friday I started the Nativity scene from Broderie. I was going to stitch it in all white but now I am thinking about adding some different colors in...just have to determine what they will be. This one is a quick stitch and may finish it the next time I pick it up.
Saturday...aka Day Seven was the start day for Lizzie Kate's ABCs of Parenting. This is my second time stitching this chart. This time it is being stitched for my daughter.
And today, Sunday; is day eight and it was the start day for Lizzie Kate’s ABCs of Aging. Did not take a picture of this one yet, so it will be in my next update!

We are a little over the first half of the 15 days; and I still have three new starts, two WIPs and a UFO to stitch on in the next seven days. So stay tuned to see what is coming up next!

Thanks for stopping by…and please leave me a comment so I know you have been here ;)

Long Awaited Update! :)

WOW ~ It has been a while! Lots of stuff has been going on; hope I can remember all of it or at least some of it! :)
First of all my wonderful grandson Jacob graduated from preschool! It was a wonderful day and we were ALL SO PROUD of him. He gave a small speech and he did so well. We went out for pizza to celebrate. Here he is all dressed up in his cap and gown looking so scholarly!

My poor laptop crashed! We tried and tried to get it back up and running with no luck. I did manage to save all my pictures (I had over 2,400) on my hard drive and the million XS freebies I have collected from all over the web! Have to remember to do a backup more often. Unfortunalty I did NOT get to save my Favorites! It was my internet that was messed up ~ think I may have had a virus of some kind. BUT think of all the new places I can explore while looking for the favorites I had before!!
Here in Chicagoland we are having a HOT and RAINY summer...I LOVE the HOT part though I am not to crazy about the wet part. We have set a new record for rainfall :(
I have been STITCHING ...I finished stitching L*K's ABCs of Parenting, framed it and gave it as a gift. Here it is ~

My daughter and I have found a couple of local groups where we can go sit and stitch with other people every other week. She brings along her knitting and I take my XS. When I am there I stitch my EMS Flowers of the Month SAL.
Meanwhile at home I started a new project. It is called the Rules of Life and it can be seen of the Kincavel Krosses website. I am doing my on 18 count with variegated purple DMC 102 ~ this is how far I got today.

But before I stitched today I went to PAINT POTTERY!! :) What fun. My daughter heard about this place not to far from us called Art 4 Soul and we had been wanting to try it. Well...we got a GroupOn deal for this so we decided to give it a try. We weren't really sure what we were doing but we found something for our "first" project and got busy. I painted this bowl...in two different shades of purple (of course). After you paint it you leave it there so they can "cook" it and we go back next week to pick it up. Here is what mine looked like when I was finished painting it. Can't wait to see it next week because the colors will change after it goes in the kiln.

Well back to stitching now...
Thanks for stopping by and hopefully it won't be so long between posts next time!

Just a brief update today…

The warmer weather has FINALLY come to the Chicago area!! YIPPEE ~ I have been patiently waiting for this weather (ok maybe not so patiently)! Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE the summer and the heat and I will take it ANY DAY over the winter.

I wanted to show you some pictures of my garage floor from before we had it repaired.

These are the before pictures ~ you can see how bad the crack was!

And here are the AFTER pictures! VIOLA ~ A nice smooth floor!

As for stitching ~ I am still working on the L*K ABC’s of Parenting. Just have a bit more to do and I and get back to my EMS Year of Flowers SAL. I am about 2 (almost 3) months behind!

H O P E F U L L Y ~ I will be finished with the stitching this week!

So check back next week and see if I finished or not! :)

Weekly Update ~ 03/28/11

Well last week I was soooo excited...SPRING arrived!! YES ~ finally ;) But the weather is NOT cooperating. It is still cold and snowy and dreary and I DON'T LIKE IT! I am more than ready for some sunshine and hot weather or at least some warmer weather.
JACOB
My daughter Tia gave Jacob's room a make over this week! He got a loft bed and a new paint job. He picked blue and red (superman colors) and his themes are Super Hero Squad and Dinosaurs!

He has the Super Hero Squad bedding and decals all over his walls and he has stars and planets that glow in the dark on his ceiling so he can sleep under the stars EVERY night! He loves his room so much he never wants to come out...

ABBY
Went to see my brother, sister-in-law and niece yesterday. We meet for lunch and Ms. Abby was not that excited to be at Red Robin! She finally calmed down and studied all the people around her (especially the ones at her table ~ LOL). I don't think she was all that impressed.

MOVIES
Watched a couple of movies this week. The family movie was Megamind which is what Jacob had been waiting for. It was kinda cute and I even found myself laughing at it a time or two. We also watched a great movie with Denzel and Chris Pine called Unstoppable. It was most excellent; totally action packed and a nail biter! I totally recommend it.
BOOKS
I have been really going thru the audiobooks. This past week I have been listening to Sue Grafton's Alphabet series. I got thru D is for Deadbeat, E is for Evidence and F is for Fugitive. They are quick books to listen to! I read the second book in the Monica Ferris' Needlework Mystery series, Framed in Lace. Next I think I am going back to the Joe Reacher series and see where he takes me now!
STITCHING
I made progress on both of my WIPs this week! YIPPEEEE First up is my March Flower for the EMS SAL. I definitely will not be finished with it in March since it is my weekend project...but hopefully I will not be too far behind!

Next is L*K's ABCs of Parenting. I made some decent progress on it but I still have soooo much more to do! Hopefully I can work on it some this week :)

Well thanks for stopping by...I appreciate it.
I am going now to await the arrival of SPRING! Hope it will finally get here this week.

Weekly Update

Missed posting last week...but nothing really exciting was happening.

Spring arrived today! YES...it finally got here but now the better countdown starts! The countdown to SUMMER ~ my most FAVORITE season ever. I am one of those people who love the heat. The hot weather doesn't bother me at all...so BRING IT ON!
My daughter Tia and Jacob my grandson got a chance to go out and enjoy the beautiful weather we had yesterday. Jacob got on his bike to ride it up and down the street and they discovered he grew to tall for the bike he got last year! So off to the store we went so my daughter could buy him a new one. Here he is trying it out at the store...new bike and helmet!
He was overjoyed and can't wait for another warm day so he can go outside and ride! Today it has been raining and now we have the thunderstorms.

STITCHING
I managed to get in a bit of stitching time on both of my WIPs but not nearly enough as you can see.
I made a little progress on L*K's ABC's of Parenting, but I still have soooo much more to do!
I don't think it will be finished in time for the arrival of the twins but HOPEFULLY it will be done shortly after that? Maybe I can try working on it EVERYDAY after work this week and see how far I can get.

Here is my progress on my weekend project; which is EMS's March Flower.
I am really enjoying doing this one and I can actually see the progress I am making on it.

READING
During the last couple of weeks I read or listened to a number of books. I listened to J.A. Jance's Fatal Error, which is the latest book in the Ali Reynolds series. I also started to listen to The Alphabet Series by Sue Grafton and I got thru A, B and C. I read the 10th book in the Jack Reacher series, The Hard Way and Crewel World, the first book in The Needlecraft Mystery Series by Monica Ferris. I remember reading some of this series a long time ago but didn't know how far I got so decided to start over with them. Not sure which book I will start tomorrow, guess I will see what I feel like when I get up and ready for work!

MOVIES
We watched a few movies during the past couple of weeks. We saw one of Jacob's favorites. Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2. He absolutely loves that movie...but he is 5 :) We also watched Easy A, You Again and Stone. They were all good but I really like You Again.

Have a wonderful week and go out and ENJOY SPRING!

Weekly Update

Just watched that show Millionaires...I think I like it but it looks like am going to have to stock up on tissue to watch this show!

STITCHING
This week I didn't get much stitching time in so I only stitched a little on the L*K's ABCs of Parenting. This is a picture of the progress as you can see I only stitched about two words!

I really should get going on it since the twins will be born in April. I have decided that I will stitch this during the week and on weekends I will stitch on the EMS SAL. We started this one on March 1st...with the March flower. I started working on some of the borders a couple of weeks ago so I could just stitch the flowers when the month came but of course...I didn't do the March border until last night and started on the flower today after church. This is how far I got
And guess what else?? I won the Monthly Chart giveaway at 1-2-3 Stitch! I won the chart Happy Holidays by Sue Hillis Designs. YIPPEE!! :)

WEATHER
The weather here is still terrible! I can't wait until winter is FINALLY over. On Friday the temperature reached the high 50s and then this morning we woke up to snow and ice. This weather is crazy and I am so ready for some warmth and sunshine!

BOOKS
This week I listened to the book Ice Cold which was the last book (for now) in the Rizolli & Isles series by Tess Gerritsen. That one was very good...and I think it may have been the best one in the series. Also listened to Mary Jane Clark's To Have and To Hold; it was just ok. I read over half of Michael Palmer's A Heartbeat Away. I was really getting into it when I realized it had to go back to the library so I will have to finish it later when I can check it out again! LOL I started another book and can't wait to finish it...It is GREAT! It is called The Room by Emma Donoghue. I am enjoying it and should be finished with it tomorrow, can't wait to see how it ends.

MOVIES
We watched a good movie this week. The movie is based on a Karen Kingsbury book called Like Dandelion Dust and it was a great movie ;) Didn't watch any other movies...cuz I was cleaning off some stuff on the DVR. I like to watch Dateline and so I watched a few episodes this weekend.

Not to much else happened this week...so until the next time! Have a wonderfully blessed week

Weekly Update

This week we are STILL getting snow... We had a record breaking 28.7 inches of snowfall in February which shattered the record of 27.8 in 1896. Just my opinion ~ that was a record we didn't need to break! I am tired of the snow and now we are under a winter advisory. We have been having thunderstorms this afternoon and tomorrow more snow showers. On the positive note, it looks like tomorrow MAY be the last of the snow for a while ;) YIPPEE

STITCHINGI stitched some more on the border for my EMS SAL this week; but it is pretty boring just doing the borders...so I took a little break from that and started L*K's ABCs of Parenting. I plan on stitching this twice; once for the daughter of my boss who is expecting twins in April and then again for my daughter. The first one I am doing is for the daughter of my boss and I am doing that one with DMC thread instead of the Crescent Colours that came with the chart. Of course I could not find a conversion chart for the Crescent Colours so I am just matching them up as close as I can. This is how far I am.
Doesn't seem like it will take to long to stitch...it's just finding the time to actually stitch.
STASH SHOPPING
I did manage to make it over to my favorite LNS Inspired Needle to get in a bit of shopping. This is what I picked up this time
Whispered by the Wind's Fugue, Lady K Needleart's Spanish Flair, Lizzie Kate's One Hundred Years and...
Together from Deanna Carter, Lizzie Kate's Hop Squared, Val's Little Stuff Kiss Me (which my son picked up for his girlfriend in Australia), Lizzie Kate's Coffee Crazy (which was something I won in a contest that the shop owner Cathy was running), and a piece of fabric to do my daughter's ABC chart on. Not to bad of a day! And I finally got to meet Cathy in person ;) Very nice lady; whom I hope I get to see a lot more of! LOL

BOOKS
This week I FINALLY finished Lee Child's One Shot and I also read Joanne Fluke's Gingerbread Cookie Murder. Normally I like these books that follow Hannah thru her crime solving antics but I was very disappointed in this one. Guess you can't like 'em all? I also listened to Tess Gerritson's The Mephisto Club and The Keepsake. Didn't really care for the beginning of The Keepsake but it got better as it went along. I will be listening to the next book in Gerritson's Rizolli and Isles series; Ice Cold but not sure what I will be reading. I also stopped into Borders on Saturday to see if they had anything good on sale but the good stuff is pretty much cleared out already. Did manage to pick up a few things for Jacob and a couple of Cross Stitch magazines though. I am going to miss that store; luckily I will still have one near work and another not to far away from my house...just not near where I usually shop but I guess I will go that way now! :)

Have a wonderfully blessed week and I will see you next time ~ hopefully with a lot more stitched on the LK chart! :)
