September 2018 WIPocalypse Check-in

Here it is... three quarters of the year have passed us by already! I can't believe how quickly time seems to go. I know many people are making their plans for their 2019 projects already but I don't know what I really want to do yet! I may just keep working on my rotation and add in a few more projects since I have had some finishes this year. Decisions, decisions, decision; luckily I still have some time to think about it and make some of those decisions.

Now for the business at hand...

The September WIPocalypse Check-in!!

The WIPocalypse was created to encourage everyone to get in some progress on their projects before the world ends! Every month we show our progress and answer a fun question so that we can all get to know each other a little better.
Click on this badge to find out more information about this fun event
which is so graciously hosted by Measi over at Measi's Musings!

You can even join in if you like at any time and for
any months you want, there are NO HARD AND FAST RULES!

During September I stitched on the following projects...

Scary Night Halloween
Designer - Stoney Creek
First Stitch 02/26/18

Here is where the piece was when September started

Lucky for me this project is also a finish and just needs to be framed to gift giving!

It looks like I changed the color of the fabric! LOL
Progress as of 09/30/18

Question of the Month:
How do you keep your stitching stash organized?

This is a question that is kinda scary to me because it shows just how much stuff (all of it good) that I have in my XS Stash! So I will gladly show you some of it!

I have two complete sets (and some extra stragglers here and there) of DMC Floss with the exception of the newer colors that they have released and the Coloris line.

This is my floss cabinet where I keep my first set of DMC that I usually use.

The drawers of the cabinet are on the left and my second set of floss in floss trays are on the right.

This is how I store my charts.
They are all alphabetized by chart name. I have all the titles along
with the details of the charts listed in a database I created years ago.
I also have a couple of index card boxes with LK size charts.

Do NOT ask me how many charts I have because
I don't want to admit to how many there are! LOL
😁

Some of my fabric stash.
Somehow it never seems to stay organised!

And then of course there is the ever so important
WIP Box!
Each envelope has any special things that are needed for
the chart so I can keep it all together with the stitched piece.

Sometimes I just like to look thru some of this stuff to remind me of all the things I want to stitch or just to give myself a little pick-me-up!

Thanks for stopping by
and for looking at my stash
see ya at the end of next month
for another WIPocalypse update!

My Sunday Stitchy Update

Evening Friends!

I hope that everyone has had a wonderful week!

We had a bit of bad news in our home this week, our faithful dog had to be put down on Saturday. His name was Pest and he was our great friend, protector, comforter and companion for twelve wonderful years and he will be truly missed. The Vet did all she could for him but in the end after talking with the Vet, Matt (my son, Pest was really his dog) decided it would be best if they let him go rather than let him live a painful miserable life.

Now on to my stitching for the week!

As you know this month I am participating in Justine's Just One July. I noticed I was having a bit of trouble seeing the fabric. I broke my LAST pair of "good" glasses and had to pull out an old pair and I just can't see as well when I am stitching and reading. I guess I will have to get some new glasses but when you need bi-focals they are costly! So...in the meantime I bought this magnifier from Amazon and I started using it today. It is really helping me with seeing the fabric so I think I may really start moving along on Dinosaurs this week!
It can either attach to your desk/table or sit on top of it and I love it! It is an great addition to my stitching stash!!

Here is my stitching progress...

Dinosaurs!
Artist - Stephen Michael Gardner
Progress as of 07/10/16

Well I think I am talked out for the week so...
Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching
see ya next week with another faithful update!

Today is my Birthday!

Well today was my big day!  Yippee... wasn't really expecting to much as my daughter took me for a surprise shopping trip to my LNS and I got these charts last weekend.
The first three Snow Belles from Lizzie Kate along with the '12 Santa Snippet and If the Broom Fits. Also got Stitchworks Sam the Patriotic Penguin for penguin obsessed Jacob, along with JBW's Bunny Collection and Cross Eyed Cat's Hopping Over for bunny obsessed me.

Then I opened my cards that I received
in the mail from my stitchy friends.
They were full of well wishes and lots of floss :)
Thank you Ladies!!

Then my grandson gave me some gifts!
A page magnifier (does that mean I am old and blind?),
some PURPLE duck tape and an iTunes card!
That boy knows how to make a Grandma happy.

Then came my son!

He gave me this puzzle and the roll-up mat for it,
both were on my massive wish list!

Then I found out DMC was on sale tonight!!

Can you believe they had ALL the colors I needed!

Cross Stitch Yard Sale!

Today I went to House of Stitches
for their Annual Midwest Stash Exchange!

It is basically a yard sale with a bunch of booths set up with stitchers who are selling off their old charts, magazines, fabric and other miscellaneous items.

Last year was my first visit and I had such a great time I decided that I would definitely go back this year and today was the day!  I went armed with my list of magazines I needed for different charts, fabric counts with the sizes needed and some charts I wanted to buy.

I got all the magazines I needed - except one ;)

None of these charts were on my list...
but you know how that goes ;D

As for fabric, well these were bigger than I needed
BUT in my world, fabric is NEVER to big!

I was looking for a big piece of purple
though but couldn't find any!

Then my son bought me the cutest pair of scissors!
A PURPLE BUNNY

Left the house this morning with $40 and
came home with $7 still in my pocket!

I DID GOOD ~ YIPPEE
