June 2026 Stitchy Update

 

Hello Friends and Happy July!  I hope you had a great June full of summer fun, family and stitching. We have been having a lot of HOT weather here! Heat advisories and weather warnings, one after the other. In June we had a handful of days that were 99 and the rest were over 100.  It looks like July is lining up to follow suit. But now on with the stitchy news!

Christmas Tree

In June I continued stitching the Christmas tree ornaments. I am a little unhappy with their size since I did them on 14 count but I am sure they will be fine in the long run. Here are the trees that have been stitched up already. 

My children and grandson each picked their own colors. I am stitching up one for my niece right now. I didn't ask her about a color, I just picked green. I would also like to stitch on for myself so I will see how I feel once I finish this one. I am kind of tired of stitching this tree but I know if I take a break, I won't get back to them in time to finish them without rushing. 

And that was all the stitching I did for the month!

This month I got in three different titles. The first was by Wally Lamb. If you have never read one of his books I highly recommend that you check them out. The one I read was The River Is Waiting. The next book I finished was Joanne Fluke's The Other Child. If you are familiar with her books or movies in the Hannah Swensen Mystery series then you know that they are cozy mysteries which are are bit funny. This book was NOTHING other books. I was so disappointed but I managed to finish it. After that the next book was Stephen King's The Long Walk. This book was written under his pen name Richard Bachman. It was a very good book and I enjoyed it !

My May 2026 Stitchy Update

Good Morning Stitchy Friends, I hope everyone is well! 

During the month of May I was pretty busy with my stitching amongst other things.

I worked a little more on my Gnome Place Like Home piece. I have made a little progress and there is still a long way to go! I think that they are cuties though!

Then I put the gnomes down and when I spun the wheel it had me pick up the 2025 Blackwork SAL.  I worked on it for a week and I really need to get back to it soon!

Christmas Tree

Then I decided that there would be no wheel this week and I should get started with this year's Christmas Ornaments. This year I am going to do it differently and stitch everyone the same ornament in different colors. I browsed Etsy and found a Quaker Christmas Tree that I liked and asked the family to pick the color they wanted their ornament stitched with. 

The first on I stitched was for my grandson! He picked DMC827 and we selected a piece of fabric that everyone's will be stitched on. I thought the floss would be to light but I think they look good together.

And that is all I did on the stitchy front for the past month.

I did get in a couple of books though.  I listened to the 3rd book in the Housemaid series, The Housemaid is Watching by Freida McFadden. Right now it is the last book in the series but I think it is supposed to be turned in to either a movie or a TV series. 

The other book I listened to was Confessions of a Murder Suspect by James Patterson. It was a short book and it might have been a YA book. It was an ok book and I will continue on with the rest of the series.
