My Sunday Stitchy Update 01/07/24

Well we made it a week into the new year! I hope everyone is enjoying 2024 so far; I know I am. Well all except for this cold weather we are having. I don't enjoy that at all and I am patiently waiting for summer to come back! LOL

For my stitching plans for 2024, as I stated before; I decided to join my friend Katie in a couple of stitching challenges.

The first challenge is in a facebook group called Magazine Monthly Cross Stitch Challenge though I don't see anyone working on projects from magazines. Every month there is a Theme and and Acrostic that we have to work with. We have to fit our stitching pieces in with these in any way we can! That was the first fun part! LOL  This also means that my set of projects will change monthly and what I am stitching will most likely change every few days! For January (see below) there is the theme and six different letters in the Acrostic so that means seven projects for January. We can set our own goals and then divided them however we want. Since for the second challenge I need 2,400 stitches per month I will divvy that total between the projects I have for the month in the way I think is best for me.

So these are my January goals:

I think it looks pretty reasonable so I should have no problem with this.

Last night I stitched on a project I haven't touched since 2012! I started this in 2011 and it is the Flowers of the Month from Ellen Maurer-Stroh. I had three flowers stitched complete and was almost finished with the fourth when I picked this up. So last night I added some leaves to the June flowers, Wild Rose and here is my progress,

Progress 07/15/12

Progress 01/06/24
84 Stitches

I hope you enjoyed seeing my flowers from long ago! I think I have a few more oldies in the WIP Box that I need to work on as well.

I also started a new piece. It is a small one with a Dog and a cute saying which is perfect for our house since we have five of them.

Home is Where the Dog is

Progress 01/02/24
94 Stitches

The second challenge in another Facebook group called Semi Sane Stitchers is to simply stitch 2,400 stitches per month on any combination of pieces I want. I could be one piece or a hundred pieces so long as the total comes to 2,400. I think the two of these challenges compliment each other so it should work out perfectly (says the optimistic me).  So as you see I am off to a good start.

Well I think I 'talked' your ears off enough for one day so I will stop for today but...

Thanks for taking a peek at my first stitches of the new year,
I hope to see ya next week with another faithful update!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 10/08/23

Hello Stitchers! Here we are at Sunday once again. I have had a full week; I won't bore you with the details but rest assured I have been very busy and I exhausted myself! Not so much that I couldn't stitch but busy enough to not want to do extra stuff.

Anyways I belong to a local cross stitching group and they decided to have a stitchy meet up on Fridays at our local mall. I have gone to the first two gatherings and I tell you I have really missed stitching with others. It was fun getting to know and meet them in person and I look forward to the next get together. I looked through my WIPs/WFOs for something easy to take back and forth and start stitching on and I found this!

As you can see I haven't worked on it in forever!

Now I have a question for all of you... Does anyone know if SamSarah still exists and if so do they have a website somewhere out there in the world? I couldn't find anything on them when I did a search and I would really like to find it.  Thanks a bunch!

Now for my main stitching focus

Progress 10/07/23

I am making pretty good progress with this one and still trying to finish it by the end of the month. Yesterday I was having a little trouble with the blending threads but i finally sorted that out. I am afraid that the purple one must have gotten cut somehome (maybe when they opened the boxes?) and it is coming off in small pieces. I finally managed to get enough to stitch what I needed to and after I am finished I will decide what to do with the rest of the bobbin.

Well I do think I have talked more than I thought I would, sorry.

I hope you have a wonderful week
and that I will see  you next Sunday!

My Sunday Stitchy Update

Good Evening Everyone!

This week I worked on one of my long neglected UFOs that I have chosen for my UFO Challenge.

Last time I worked on this piece in 2012 this is how I left it

and this is how it looks now!

If I had one more day this week I could
have finished this section but it's week is
over and now it is time for it to go away.

Tomorrow I plan on starting the 2016 SAL from Palko. I am leaning towards doing it in reds so I will need to look thru my threads and decide on which ones I should use.

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching
see ya next week with another faithful update!

My Sunday Stitchy Update

Happy New Year and Welcome to 2016!

I hope you all had a great New Year celebration!  My family spent the evening in our pjs, playing board games, watching movies and eating junk.  I fell asleep around 11:20 and woke up in time to see the ball drop with everyone else.  As soon as that happened though we were all off to bed to dream of all the wonderful things that await us in the new year.

Well now for the stitching!

I am proud and happy to say that I have my first finish for 2016!

Introducing...

Wizard of Oz
Designer - Lesley Teare
Finished 01/03/16

I really wanted to finish that one in 2015 but I just couldn't get it in. So I am extra happy that it is finally finished now!  Now to find the perfect frame and mat for it so I can give it to Tia.

That is one UFO off my UFO challenge!  I wish I could knock them all off that fast this year - haha!  Only 5 more to go on my personal challenge.

I also started two new pieces on New Year's day for a Stitching Challenge I am in with a Yahoo group.

Happy New Year's!

I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very Happy New Year's!

Thank you all for taking the time during this past year to encourage me with my stitching and for taking the time to come by and see what I am up to by reading my blog. I truly appreciate each and every one of you.

2015 turned out to be a pretty good stitching year for me.  Lots of finishes, 22 of them!  Most of them are smalls but that is ok with me because I love each and every piece I stitched. You can see them all listed here. The Wizard of Oz almost got finished but I still have to back stitch the Scarecrow.  It should be finished by the weekend at the latest and it can be my first finish of 2016!

For 2016 I am starting two new pieces on New Years Day as part of 2016 Stitching Challenge in a Yahoo group I belong to. The two pieces are
SamSarah
It is a perpetual calendar and I have had it in my stash for a couple of years. I still need to buy the Calendar Holder so I will start looking around for that after I am off to a good start.

My second piece will be
Northern Expressions Needlework
Twisted Rainbow Sampler CROSS STITCH version PDF Chart by Northern Expressions Needlework
My daughter and grandson bought me some charts from Northern Expressions along with DMC required for them for my birthday last year. I ordered the black aida and I am so ready to go!!

I will also concentrate on finishing off at least six of my twelve UFOs; my very own UFO Challenge of sorts! Most of them just need small sections finished up and I don't know that I will totally finish each and every one of them but I am going to try! :)

Here is the list I HOPE to get out of the UFO basket...

Wizard of Oz
Cross Stitch Gold Mag / July 2012
Designer - Lesley Teare
Hope to finish up on this QUICKLY!

From My Heart To Yours
Designer - Carla Rizzie
This is a small chart, not sure if it is
supposed to be a biscourn or not??
I will check that out when I get to this piece.
Full Bloom

LOVE this piece!

Twirl aka Smoosh
Amy Bruecken Designs
This one just needs some words added
as requested by Jacob. Original chart is
a penguin on a box instead of a cupcake.

Shades of Blue
Designer - Northern Expressions Needlework
Have more than this stitched but couldn't find a good picture.

Dinosaurs!,
Design by Stephen Michael Gardner
Flumpkins X Stitchers
I would REALLY like to finish this one...
before Jacob goes off to college would be nice :)

So... what are your 2016 plans??

Thanks for taking a peek,
See ya next time!

Serious Stitchers

My Stitching Friends - Shelleen, Nancy, Mary and I have started a NEW Yahoo group!

The new group is for Cross Stitchers who have lots of UFOs/WIPs that they would like to finish! We would like this to be a place where we can find and give lots of encouragement to each other to get them finished.

OT is limited to keep this an active cross stitch group; but we will have different subjects to talk about everyday so we can get to know each other ;)
We would love to have you join
us so come and check us out!

Sunday's Stitchy Update...

It is time for the weekly Sunday Stitchy update - even though it is a day late ;)

I really wanted to finish the border on this piece before I posted and I finally finished it this morning.  This piece was not in my rotation but it was a UFO that was SCREAMING my name so I pulled it out.

This is Rules For Life from Kincavel Krosses.

Next up in the rotation is Rose of Sharon which I am starting over on a new piece of fabric.

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching
see ya next week with another update!

Sunday's Stitchy Update...

It is the 15th! Yippee…
That means I have stitched on each of my 15 projects for the Cross Stitch Crazy 15 Facebook group and for the Yahoo Group Stitching Sisters! I already posted the first seven so here are the updates for the next eight…five are new starts, two are WIPs and one is a long abandoned UFO from 2005.

On Day 7 I started Lizzie*Kate’s ABCs of Parenting

On the 8th I started Lizzie*Kate’s ABCs of Aging

On the 9th I started stitching Easter Eggs by Anna Waite Designs ~ love this one!

The 10th brought me a bit of a challenge…I started stitching Rose of Sharon by Design Connection and I am NOT to sure I like it. It is supposed to be stitched over two but I decided to stitch it over one and that might be a mistake…I am going to try to stitch some more when I can and see how I feel about it. Maybe I can swap it out for some different fabric?

On the 11th I started stitching His Name is Jesus – didn’t get to far though

The 12th is another Lizzie*Kate design! Boys Will Be Boys from The It’s A Boy Thing Chartpak…love this one too! Seems I must really like L*K Designs

Then I picked up the UFO on the 13th and I so remember why I put it down! I am stitching it over 2 and I am not to good at that! Maybe if I had an evenweave fabric it would seem less stressful? To late now – I am about halfway finished.

On the 14th I continued with the EMS Flowers of the Month SAL I was doing with another group. I am almost finished with May. I already stitched March and April in 2011.

The last chart to round out the 15th is another WIP ~ Dinosaurs! I was terrified of this chart but with a lot of encouragement and direction of many online friends – I am doing it like I would any other project. I just know that this one will take WAY longer than any other I did cuz it is the biggest one I have ever attempted ~ 20 pages ~ YIKES! So far 331 stitches stitched and only 66,169 more to go!!

Thanks for looking at my 15 projects for 2012… come back next Sunday and see what kind of progress I made and leave a comment so I know you stopped by for a peek!
