My Sunday Stitchy Update 01/11/26

This is going to be a quick post. I took some more cold meds and they make me sleepy. But I just had to come and share my excitement with you guys because, the

2024 Peppermint Purple SAL is FINISHED!!

Of course it is not ironed yet but here it is:

Designer - Clare
Finished it off with 298 stitches.

I think it is time for a celebration!
Thanks for stopping by to see my finish.

Well, thanks for stopping by.
Stay  safe, happy and keep on stitching.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 01/04/26

HAPPY NEW YEAR
EVERYONE!

Welcome to 2026 and what is going to be a great year for all of us.

So here is my first post of the year and I am excited to show you the Christmas gifts I made for the others in our stitching group. I made each person (with some assistance from my daughter) resin coasters. It was my first time using the resin and let me tell you; it can be addictive! We mainly have cross stitchers in our group but we also have other people; some crafty and others just to talk, who have joined our weekly get togethers so I will show you the crafty coasters as well.

First up we have an artist in our midst. She like to color and draw, especially Halloween designs! I put her coaster together with some colored pencils, art journals and Halloween coloring book

We also have an avid crocheter who does beautiful work crocheting all kinds of things. In her coaster I added a crochet hook, balls of yarn, a tape measure and some scissors.
It is laying up against a lamp so it is a little hard to see.

And last but not least we have many cross stitchers! In these coasters I added an embroidery hoop, a piece of fabric, a tape measure, scissors, a threaded needle and some skeins of floss I made of the stitcher's fabric color.

The items in the coasters came from Etsy, mainly in the miniatures or doll house sections. Everyone seemed to like them and now I have to start thinking about what I will do for next Christmas! LOL

Now on to the STITCHING!

I FINALLY finished my Grandson's Christmas ornament for 2025! I know, I know, it is late. luckily it is for family and they understand my issues and problems! 😊 Here it is...

Finished it off with 186 stitches and two pieces of ribbon.

I was not such a great photographer on the finished one in the middle here, sorry. I was just happy to be done!

After that I actually was able to look through my WIP box to pick out something. It has been a long time since I did that since I was doing the ornaments.  I couldn't make a decision on what to stitch so I just picked up the first project in the box and since I keep them alphabetically, it was the 2024 Blackwork SAL.

Designer - Clare
Added 303 stitches

It is encouraging to look at this one because it is almost finished! I remember I had to rip out so much of this after I first started it because I had really messed it up. I hope to finish this before I move on to something else.

So that was my week!

Thanks for stopping by.
Stay safe, healthy (the flu is going around)
and I hope to see you soon.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 06/29/25

Welcome Everyone! I hope that you are doing well! Everything is great here in Arizona. The weather forecasters are still promising rain, though I have not seen any yet. Hopefully it will be soon because the birds do not want to eat their food in the heat. We (and most neighbors) have NO shade around our homes. A lot of homes have cacti growing in their front yard since this is the desert; but that does not provide any shade either; putting out water during the summer is not really a good idea either as the sun heats it up. It is not easy being a bird here in the summer months.

So on to my stitching! This week was a repeat of the last where I only stitched on the quilt blocks and the reindeer. I made good progress with them so let me show you!

First up, I'll show you the quilt blocks. I am still working on the last block and it looks like it should be finished this week. Then I have a fill in a few places I missed when I originally stitched those blocks.

Loretta Oliver
I worked on this on Tuesday and Friday during our
weekly get togethers and I put in 158 stitches this week.

Next up is my first Christmas ornament of the year, the Reindeer Bauble. I am getting kind of excited because I am about two thirds of the way finished, and you can really see the reindeer. I think the scary part of this will be cutting it out because that always makes me nervous!

I put in 413 stitches on this piece.

I have still been looking for a penguin ornament like these, but I haven't had much success. I have thought about trying to make it on my own, but I am not an artist!

So, I think that is it for the week.

Hope that I see you next week.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 02/16/25

New Week, New Stitches! YaY!

I hope everyone is doing great. I am doing pretty good; nothing exciting happening, thankfully.

My needle had some busy times this week and I am happy with the progress that was made. The first thing I worked on was the 2024 Blackwork SAL and I can't wait to work on it again. I completed all of the January fills.

Added in 319 (638) stitches.

After that, I found the Vase of Flowers that had been missing for a couple of months. It had been tucked away with another chart!  So I decided I needed to work on it! All most finished with the background then there is a little backstitch to do.

Added 141 blue stitches!

The next piece I worked on was The Flower A Day. This piece is so colorful that I can't help but smile when I am working on it!  I was wondering how many flowers are actually on this chart though I know I don't want to count them.

So I added 92 stitches to this piece.

Then it was time for some more Blackwork with The Steady Thread's SAL. You can really see the design coming through now.. I think it must take a lot of patience to be a designer.

Added in 91 (184) stitches.

Next up we have Faith Over Fear.  When I started it I changed the green to pink and forgot to write down which pink! I had to to thru a hand full of pinks to figure it out which one I used. I think I picked to correct one, at least it looks like it. I also made sure I wrote down the which number I used!

Added 136, mostly white, stitches. Hope you can see them.

And finally, to wrap things up; I worked on My Enchanted Snowman! I can even see the progress made! I think I finally got the hang of this one or maybe because I didn't have so many color changes but I really enjoyed stitching on it this time. I guess we will see what happens next time.

Added 227 stitches in.

Well it is LATE here and I need to go to sleep! So I guess I will close for now. Thank you once again for stopping by. I appreciate it. I am also making my way through my inbox and I am finally (hanging head in shame) answering emails. If I could only get two or three more hours in each day for a while I could easily catch up with everything I want to do.

Well friends, stay safe and I hope to see you next weekend!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 06/30/24

Hi there! Hope everything is going well with you and that you had a great week.

This week I am going to make a quick and short post because I have some stuff to do with Tia!

Last week I showed you my start on the Twisted Rainbow Sampler. After I posted I stitches on it just a little bit longer and here is how it looks now.

Twisted Rainbow Sampler
Designer - Northern Expressions Needlework

Progress 06/23/24
added another 156 stitches

I love how the colors go from one to another. After that I decided to do some work on the one about a home being wherever your dog is. This is a pretty easy one with no color changes! And since I was going to meet my group of stitching friends it makes good sense with all the talking and distractions.

Home is Where the Dog Is

Progress 06/26/24
204 stitches added this week.

I am slowly making progress! Also during the last couple of days and in between stitches, I had to frog my blackwork piece, One Hundred Days of Tiny. Last week I mentioned that I kept looking at it thinking something was wrong with it and I finally figured it out what it was! I was stitching with one thread and then when I picked it up again I started using two threads.

One Hundred Days of Tiny
Progress 06/28/24
even after the frog visit it ended up with 146 stitches this week.

So that is it for the week!

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching
see ya next week with another faithful update!

Have a good week and if you are in the States
enjoy the 4th of July while staying safe!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 05/12/24

Welcome to my place today!

To the Moms, Dads, Grandparents, Sisters, Brothers, Aunts, Uncles, and Friends along with all the others who stepped in as a mother or caretaker of children...

H A P P Y   M O T H E R S   D A Y !
Know that you are truly appreciated.

This week I spent my time stitching on the following projects.

My Christmas Ornaments for my family the year. I am going to have to start getting some more stitches in on these if I want them finished for Christmas!

Small Christmas Ornaments
Santa

Progress 05/06/24
211 stitches added

Then I picked up my Blackwork piece to stitch next. This is the second page finished out of six. I think all the rest of the pages are partials.

2024 Blackwork SAL
Progress 05/09/24
203 stitches added

Then I spent a couple of days working on Home is Where the Dog Is! I kept messing up the stitching and having to frog over and over again! I just couldn't get the words on the bottom to line up right.

Home is Where the Dog Is
Progress 05/10/24
122 stitches added

So that is it on the stitching front! I added a total of 536 stitches this week. I was in a stitching slump for part of the week and didn't even want to stitch. I was only putting in enough stitches each day so I wouldn't break my streak, but I think I am over it now!

I hope you had a great week and enjoyed some stitching time too!

I hope to see you again next week
with another faithful update!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 03/17/24

Hello People!  I hope you are all having a wonderful week! It was one of "those" weeks for me. I really wanted to stitch but I just couldn't get myself motivated. I am hoping that next week I will be better at picking up my needle and thread so I can get busy!

Well, let me show you what I did manage to stitch.

First up is Home is Where the Dog is

Home is Where the Dog is
Daily Cross Stitch

Progress 03/12/24
211 stitches added

This is one of the pieces I stitch when I go to the cross stitch get together since it is a pretty easy stitch that only requires one color.

I also stitched Lucky Shamrocks

Lucky Shamrocks

Progress 03/15/24
Only 72 little Xs

This is another one that is an easy stitch that doesn’t require any real concentration since I just have to fill in the Shamrocks. Though I must say the “lucky” shamrocks did not bring me any luck! I decided to play the Powerball since it was over $600 million but I didn’t even get one stinking number (as usual)!

Then I moved on to the Peppermint Purple SAL.

2024 Blackwork SAL
Peppermint Purple

Progress 03/13/24
260 stitches as you have to count
blackwork as two stitches for one.

Right now, I am only working on the border (or frame) of the piece. I will start adding in the fills once I am finished with this part. This is the kind of design I really enjoy stitching!

This is a free yearlong SAL available on Facebook!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I appreciate your visit and comments.

I hope you  will come by again soon.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 02/25/24

Hello there!! I am glad that you could join me again today. I really do appreciate the people who stop by every now and then to see what I have been up to.

Last week I worked on quite a few different pieces and I would like to share them with you now.

I started off the week with the Blackwork SAL. I love stitching Blackwork because it looks kind of delicate to me.

Peppermint Purple 2024 Blackwork SAL
Peppermint Purple
Designer - Clare Ardali

Progress 02/22/24
275 Stitches
For the blackwork stitches two stitches counts as 1 stitch.
Right now I am working on the border and I will do the fills once that is finished.

Then I moved over to do a Quilt Block

Quilt Block Sampler
Stitching the Night Away
Designer - Loretta Oliver

Progress 02/23/24
310 Stitches

Next I needed something a little more cheerful, Flowers!

The Flower A Day
Designer - Carolyn Manning
CM Designs
Progress 02/24/24
200 Stitches

There was also the Home is Where the Dog is piece but all it is is a lot of boring block Xs doing the fill on the dog house so I will post that one when it is a bit more exciting!

So that is pretty much it for the week.

I am settling on exactly what will be in the March stitch and one of them is super long!

I will show them all filled out next week!

In the mean time;
Have a wonderful week and thanks for stopping by.
