My Sunday Stitchy Update 02/16/25

New Week, New Stitches! YaY!

I hope everyone is doing great. I am doing pretty good; nothing exciting happening, thankfully. 

My needle had some busy times this week and I am happy with the progress that was made. The first thing I worked on was the 2024 Blackwork SAL and I can't wait to work on it again. I completed all of the January fills.

After that, I found the Vase of Flowers that had been missing for a couple of months. It had been tucked away with another chart!  So I decided I needed to work on it! All most finished with the background then there is a little backstitch to do.

The next piece I worked on was The Flower A Day. This piece is so colorful that I can't help but smile when I am working on it!  I was wondering how many flowers are actually on this chart though I know I don't want to count them.

So I added 92 stitches to this piece.

Then it was time for some more Blackwork with The Steady Thread's SAL. You can really see the design coming through now.. I think it must take a lot of patience to be a designer.

Next up we have Faith Over Fear.  When I started it I changed the green to pink and forgot to write down which pink! I had to to thru a hand full of pinks to figure it out which one I used. I think I picked to correct one, at least it looks like it. I also made sure I wrote down the which number I used!

And finally, to wrap things up; I worked on My Enchanted Snowman! I can even see the progress made! I think I finally got the hang of this one or maybe because I didn't have so many color changes but I really enjoyed stitching on it this time. I guess we will see what happens next time.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 02/02/25

Welcome Back Everyone! I hope you had a great week and you were able to get in some stitching time. I had a pretty good week. One of the best parts of the week is being able to go to the Mall and stitch with my friends. I think I actually get less stitches in my piece because we are so busy talking and looking at everyone's work and wishes! But that is ok, I enjoy spending time with the other ladies.

So this week I worked on a couple of big projects that you can actually see the progress on. That encourages me to keep going! Sometimes you can't really see where you stitched but you know you did! So let me show you what I did! 

First up I stitched a little on The Enchanted Christmas Snowman. I can't believe I am still on page one of this chart though it does look like I am a little more than half way. If you look you can actually see the stitches I put in. Everything is so blue that it was nice to finally use a different color!

On 01/26 I added 115 stitches

After that I worked on these teeny tiny squares. It is kind of hard to put the fill in these tiny boxes and I often have to take out what I stitched and do it again and again!

I added 252 stitches on 01/27.

Then it was Tuesday... that is the evening we stitch at the Mall. I gathered up my stuff, grabbed a Diet Pepsi and off I went. When I got to the mall I took my stuff out and I noticed I grabbed the wrong box of floss; darn it! Luckily the box I did have had black and white in it so I was still able to stitch the border!

On 1/28 I added 107 black or white stitches.

Then on Wednesday I looked through the WIP Box and saw this one so I took it out and looked it over and thought that I could at least finish this one block! It took me four evenings to do it, but it is finished!! Now I am down to one more block.

Yesterday, 02/01 I finished adding in 489 Xs.

Now I will have to look and see what I will do this week. I am still doing the stitching acrostics so I will look over the list I wrote down and see what I feel like stitching. And luckily I can use the same piece on more than one acrostic if it fits! YaY 

Also, Tuesday is World Cancer Day. I would like to send prayers and good wishes to everyone who has or had cancer or been touched by cancer in one way or another. Cancer is not only tough on the person that has cancer but the people surrounding and supporting them. I am proud to say that this week I will celebrate being a ten year survivor of ovarian cancer.

Be kind to one another.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 11/24/24

Hey everyone! Hope life is treating you well. 

This week a bunch of friends and I went to see Wicked and in my opinion it was fantastic! If you have seen the other productions of this series then this one is a must. I hope you have a chance to enjoy it as well.

Believe it or not we have still been in the 80s this week! We did drop down to the 60s for a couple of days and then jumped right back to the 80s. I am not complaining though, I love the heat!

In the upcoming week here in the US we will be celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday. Most people will watch football and cook a turkey with tons of sides. My family will be making homemade pizzas for dinner that day and I of course will be stitching and watching movies. 

I think I have answered all the comments for last week and I am trying to remember to change the email address so they don't go to "No Reply". If I didn't answer your comment it is probably because I forgot to change the email address... sorry!

Now for the stitching I squeezed in this week! 

First one stitched was perfect for the prompt "Stitch on something you’re reluctant to stitch on." After another frogging session with this piece (I think it is my third or maybe the fourth?) I was brave enough to stitch on it again. This time I worked on the upper right instead of the lower left amd so far, so good! The real test will be when I start adding the lines inside the border.

Next up I worked on the Quilt Block Sampler, since the prompt was made for this one; "Stitch with blue floss, or on something with a moon." As you know I have been working on this for years and years, four to be exact and I hope to have these last two blocks stitched up soon so I can mark this one finished!

Progress 11/19 when I added 164 stitches.

This time the prompt was to "Stitch on something that is small, or fairy sized." I figured the title says they are tiny boxes so this should be fine! I definitely don't have anything fairy sized because I think that would be extra small. It almost looks like someone dumped out a bunch of die and this is how they landed.

I added 240 stitches which counts for 120 between the days of 11/20 and 11/22.

Now for one of my current favorites; Stephen King's House! I can't wait to get to the different books and movies that are featured here. This prompt said to "Stitch on something you would find at a tea party." Well what would a tea party be without the guests? After all someone has to drink all that tea and eat the cookies!! So all the people in this piece will be invited once they are visible.

The last prompt is asking about the season of weather that I really don't like though I do like it a bit better now that I don't have to be bothered with it! They asked me to "Stitch on something that makes you think of winter." Well this one obviously has everything to do with winter even though I prefer summer!

This week it seemed as though the prompts were made after someone looked in my WIP box. I often wonder who thinks of these prompts. I am sure it is a lot of work to think of six for each week. 

Well it is time for me to go to bed and TRY to get some sleep. It is 2:45am right now, way past my bedtime but the insomnia says no, you should stay awake... all night!

I love how the colors go from one to another. After that I decided to do some work on the one about a home being wherever your dog is. This is a pretty easy one with no color changes! And since I was going to meet my group of stitching friends it makes good sense with all the talking and distractions.

I am slowly making progress! Also during the last couple of days and in between stitches, I had to frog my blackwork piece, One Hundred Days of Tiny. Last week I mentioned that I kept looking at it thinking something was wrong with it and I finally figured it out what it was! I was stitching with one thread and then when I picked it up again I started using two threads.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 06/23/24

Happy Sunday Everyone! 

I hope that you had a great week.  I had a pretty good week. Just hanging out at the house and getting in quite a bit of stitching.  It has been to hot to cook in the kitchen so I have been making a lot of crock pot meals which frees up a lot of my day and that is pretty nice! Do you guys like to cook in the crockpot? I think it maybe my favorite way to "cook" dinner!


This week I pulled out this piece again and continued stitching this blackwork with two threads.

So...as I was stitching it I kept looking at the the stitched parts and I think that they look very thick. I asked around and everyone says it looks fine the way it is and I agreed. Then I would stitch some more and start having the doubts about the stitches again. I decided that I will just start it over and see how I like it then. 


Then I was in a little pop-up challenge in one of my groups to either stitch 500 stitches or 5 hours on a piece that you avoid. Well I am always dreading the Dinosaur piece with all of the confetti stitches it has. So silly me, that is the piece I decided on.

179 stitches added

Well I ended up stitching for the five hours and put in 179 stitches. I do consider that good with as much confetti as there is.  It seems like there was not more than five of the same color stitches in any one place. So now I think this one has to go on time out for the month of July! 


Next I stitched some of the Vase of Flowers which is on plastic canvas. It will be a bookmark once it is finished.

That is 662 stitches for the week but I am happy with the amount given the Dinosaur piece. 

Next week I have a few pieces to catch up on before the end of the month so I hope to be busy stitching this week to finish my acrostics for June. Then it is time to figure out the July plans!
