My Sunday Stitchy Update 01/03/21

Happy New Year To Everyone!
May your days be filled with stitches of all kind!

This year I plan to try and clear out some of my WIPs and UFOs. I still have some new starts to throw in (next week as a matter of fact) but I hope not to have to many big ones to add to the pile. I will probably still work them in my crazy unorganized weekly rotation unless I just feel like it should stay out another week. I think it is gonna be a do what I feel like year for the most part.

I happily started out the new year with a finish!! I wanted to finish up the monthly piece I started in 2020 so I got working on it with the hopes of another 2020 finish but I missed that by a day.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 09/20/20

Hi there everyone! How are you doing?

Are the temperatures dropping where you live announcing the beginning of fall? It will be arriving this week, on Tuesday I think. We are still in the 90s here but we drop way down to the 70s over night. LOL

I just have a quick post this evening. I worked on "A Year of Celebrations" for the SAL with Mary over at Stitching Friends Forever.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 08/09/20

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I hope that everyone was able to have a great crafty week.  Next week school starts here which will bring everyone an entire new experience. Jacob will be going to school via Zoom and just like being in class he has to sit there in front of the monitor for the entire school day. I think it may be a bit difficult for kids to sit in front of the laptop all day without getting antsy but we will have to see how it goes since that seriously beats the alternative of in person class.

I changed a couple of things on this one like his glasses for one; they had them outlined in brown which of course couldn't be seen on that dark green floss. Also where it says ABC 123 it was suppose to say Aa Bb Cc Dd Ed with the Ee on the other side of the books. I was thinking that whenever I say "Go to school and learn your ABCs" at the end of the sentence gets added "and 123s" not D and E" so I changed that too and am pretty pleased with it.

A couple of weeks ago Astrid showed her new needle minders and I told her I would show mine soon.

I made my own needle minder board (with the help of Jacob and Tia) a while ago because I **might** have gone a tad bit overboard buying minders.

If you are interested here are the pictures showing how I did it:

First I bought these magnetic bulletin boards from Ikea. These were not the first boards I bought; I had been to Ikea and looked at lots of boards but didn't buy them then because I was still shopping around. Then the first ones I ordered were NOT magnetic, so it was back to the drawing board to get it right.

These are the things I used to glue the two boards together. I tried lots of other things (crazy glue, super crazy glue, super gorilla glue) before this glue but nothing else worked! Thank goodness for E6000!!

I had to have Jacob clamp them together because I couldn't even open the stinking clamps let alone get them attached to the boards! We had to weigh them down because as soon as we let them go after clamping them together they flew up and tried to close like  a book!

It had to stay clamped for three days to make sure the E6000 stayed set and what do you know; it worked! YIPPEE

Tia hung it on the wall. We had to use Command Hooks to hang it. If you have ever lived in or visited Tuscon then you know that the wall here are mostly made out of brink, cement and adobe which is not really hammer and nail friendly and we have broken many drill bits trying to hang stuff here.

The cabinet to the right of the boards is where I store most of my cross stitch charts.

A couple of years ago I assembled this puzzle and glued it together in anticipation of this project!

I attached it (not to centered!) to the boards with Command adhesive strips.

And here it is displaying my
Needle Minder Collection!
I told you I went a bit overboard!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 07/11/20

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had an awesome week and that where you live it is not to hot for you!

We had a hot week this week and are expecting another one coming up. Luckily we get to stay inside with the AC so it doesn't really bother me to much.

But what that means to me is... Stay inside, binge watch something (if you can find anything worth watching that you haven't seen before) and stitch! YAY  So that is what I did.

I started and finished the next section of

A Year of Celebrations
August
Designer - Hands On Design
Mini Finish 07/11/20

Now I need to go look in the WIP Box to see what jumps up and into my hand for next week.

So until next week; stay cool, stay safe and keep stitching
and thanks for taking a peek at my stitching!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 06/14/20

Hi Everybody!!

This week I have a mini finish to show you! The next section of the monthly celebration pieces.

A Year of Celebrations
July

Mini Finish 06/13/20

On Thursday, my floss order FINALLY came in from 123Stitch! And on Friday my larger order that I placed on Sunday came in also. Weird how one small order takes ten days and a much larger order (that I did not need!) only took five days. Oh well everything is here now and that is the important part.

This morning I decided to start finishing off that last section of the Halloween banner. This is where it was when I started

My Sunday Stitchy Update 04/12/20

Hello Friends!

I hope that you had a wonderful Easter celebration!

I had to go out yesterday to drop my car off for it's regularly scheduled maintenance and it seemed so strange not to see other cars on the street, malls and popular restaurants with empty parking lots and no people walking anywhere! It makes you feel sad when you think of the reason for all this and the way it is affecting people and the economies around the world. I pray that it will be over soon and that "life" will return to better than normal soon and that people will come out of this kinder and more considerate of others.

This week I stitched up the next section of A Year of Celebrations!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 03/22/20

Hello everyone!

I hope that you are all having a great (and safe) week regardless of the world around us at the moment and that you are finding plenty of time to stitch and craft.

I just have a quick little post today!  This week I stitched the April section of the Celebrations chart. These are pretty quick stitches that I enjoy because they are so colorful!

Then I started working on February right away.

Progress as of 02/09/20

I just knew that it would be finished quickly but that box of chocolates was a pain in my sweet tooth!! I am going to try and finish this up tomorrow.

I have decided to join RJ and Mary over at Stitching Friends Forever with their SAL on this piece. This month they will stitch up March and they plan on always stitching the upcoming month whereas I was stitching the current month. I am going to try to squeeze in March before the month is over so we will be on the same section. If anyone else is interested in joining us please go over to their blog and let them know! The more stitchers the merrier!!

Thanks for stopping by,
see ya next time!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 02/02/20

Evening Friends!

I do hope that everyone had a great stitchy week. I think my January has been a bit mixed up due to the fact that I was not keeping track of the dates and what I was supposed to be doing!

Anyways, when I finally realized the date, the month was darn near over and I had not even started my monthly stitch! Uh oh... So I got to work on it and January is just about finished and I love how colorful it is looking.

Just an FYI - If you have this in your stash you may want to check the designer's website to see if your chart is affected by the color typo they have listed there!

Hope to have this piece finished up tomorrow and then I can start on February.

Knowing that I wanted to stitch this set on a brownish colored fabric that was sort of like the shade of Jingles I decided to try my hand at tea dying a piece of fabric again.

I think it came out a pretty color and I am very happy with it.  I have soooo much white fabric in my stash that I hate to buy more if I can dye it myself!

I followed The Twisted Stitcher's Baking and Basting technique which has some pretty simple instructions.
