Movie Monday

This week we just watched a couple of old movies.  We watched a fun movie Men In Black II and an old favorite Mrs. Doubtfire.  I find it fun watching these old movies with a six year old as he is just amazed watching them and he loved them both!

Sunday's Stitchy Update...

It is time for the weekly Sunday Stitchy update - even though it is a day late ;)

I really wanted to finish the border on this piece before I posted and I finally finished it this morning.  This piece was not in my rotation but it was a UFO that was SCREAMING my name so I pulled it out.

This is Rules For Life from Kincavel Krosses.

Next up in the rotation is Rose of Sharon which I am starting over on a new piece of fabric.

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching
see ya next week with another update!

Movie Monday

Over the weekend we rented Life's A Jungle from the RedBox for my grandson, he totally enjoyed it

We watched lots of season finales last week;
  • Desperate Housewives (wish it was continuing)
  • Grey’s Anatomy (sad – glad it is going to continue)
  • Revenge (Love Emily)
  • Scandal (if I EVER get in trouble call Olivia for me!)
  • Celebrity Apprentice (Yeah Arsenio!)
  • Awake (that show confused me to the end)
  • Missing (enjoyed but glad it is over)
  • Private Practice (so sad…)  I watched this show in the beginning then I quit watching it for one reason or another, now I am watching it from the beginning on NetFlix.

Sunday's Stitchy Update...

Well I had some extra stitching time this week so I got a BUNCH done this past week and it was a bit of a bonus since it was also International Hermit and Stitch Weekend

The piece that was up in rotation this week was L*K's ABCs of Parenting and this is how it looks after my week of stitching.

I am now back into my rotation so I am not sure what is next in the box but I will find out in the morning.

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching,
see ya next week with another update!

It's May Tusal

Time for the monthly TUSAL report.

I had lots of dark colors added this month since I have been working on some L*K charts the most recent being the ABCs of Parenting.

So until the next TUSAL report on June 19th I'll just keep adding in those leftover pieces of floss and see how far I can fill this jar.

Thursday Night Weigh In :]

Well I had a teeny tiny loss this week.  0.4 and the way I am looking at it right now is that is pretty good since I have the refrigerator at my beck and call these days. Oh and there was Mother's Day thrown in there too.  We went to Smashmouth Burgers for dinner and Cold Stone for dessert. What a yummy day. But I am getting back on track now.

Time to Blog Hop

It's time to go to the Hop!

Loretta's question for this round of the Blog Hop is...

Do you use a stand when you stitch? If so, tell us about it and share pictures if you’ve got them. If not, would you like to try using a stand? Do you have any tips or tricks around using a stand versus not using a stand?
When I first discovered the Stitching World on the internet I saw that people had these wonderful stands that could hold their project while they stitched on them. What a great idea I thought; no more holding my piece while stitched on it.  How cool especially since I have arthritis and tendinitis this would be such a relief to my hands and arms while I stitch. OH I COULDN’T WAIT TO GET ONE.  So I put it on my list of things I would like for my birthday and my kids bought it for me.  They affectionately named it Johnny 5 (must have been watching Short Circuit around that time) and I happily put it in front of my stitchy space and put my piece on it.  Started stitching away and I am thinking…what the heck; this is terrible!  I cannot stitch like this! It was just toooo uncomfortable for me.  I tried and tried and just couldn’t get the hang of it.  So I ended up trading it away to another stitcher for some fabric. . .oh well I tried.

Fast forward to a couple of months ago when my tendinitis was really acting up and it wouldn’t let up no matter what I did.  So I thought let me get a stitching stand and see if it will help me.  Again I just couldn’t use it – darn.  I just can’t get the hang of this thing, it is like a mental block with me.  So it is hanging out in the garage all lonely and forlorn looking.

But now I am thinking…due to some unfortunate events that happened in the last couple of weeks; I am home all day.  I may just get it out and give it another try! What have I got to lose??

Wish me luck...and check back later to see what the results are.  To stand or not to stand J

Monday Movie Recap...

Well we had a movie weekend...

We watched Joyful Noise with Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton.  It was cute.

Then we watched The Vow - loved it! This is one I am sure to watch again.  I think I have the book on my Kindle so now I have to read it.

Then the entire family watched Men In Black. Jacob (grandson) had never seen it and he loved it.  He is at that age where aliens and space monsters are just the right thing to watch.

Then I watched Presumed Innocent.  I read this book recently and when I saw the listing in Netflix I just had to watch it!  It was good but you know...the book is ALWAYS better.

Sunday's Stitchy Update...

This week I worked on Cross-Stitch-Art's Full Bloom.  Here is my progress for the week.
This is page 3 of 4 and it is about half way finished. Since I finished One Hundred Years I have resumed my rotation so next up is another L*K, ABCs of Parenting.

I would also like to say HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to everyone out there.  I hope you had a great day...I know I did :)  My children gave me some magnificent gifts and I truly appreciate the gifts but most importantly I appreciate my children and my grandson.  Even without gifts the day would be special just because we spent it together.  Love you guys!

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching
see ya next week with another update

This Week's Reads...

I have not been reading to much this week...when I got laid off I lost my reading time! I used to read on the train going back and forth to work or I would listen to a book while I worked.  I will have to make time for reading while I am home but this darn internet seems to keep getting in my way!

I did finish listening to one book and that was Cruel and Unusual by Patricia Cornwell.  Monday morning I plan on starting The Body Farm.

What did you read this week???

Thursday Night Weigh In :/

Well there is bad news and good news...

The bad news is that I had a gain; good news is it was only a 0.2 gain.  I knew I was going to have a gain this week because I had a very long week at home and unfortunately the refrigerator is RIGHT THERE...  I got laid off last week and I am still getting adjusted to "being at home" and I am not so sure that I like it so much.  I am going to try to get into some kind of routine while I am home so that I will stay out of the KITCHEN and I am PRAYING that it will work for me...

Wish me luck!  ;)

Monday Movie Recap...

We haven't been watching to many movies lately...we have been mainly watching stuff in our Hulu Queue.

We did watch one movie this past weekend though.  We watched We Bought a Zoo.  I enjoyed it but I think it was to long for Jacob; he kept wandering off and coming back to it later to see what was going on.

WIPocalypse May Update

Well here it time for the May WIPocalypse update!

This month I worked on my L*K One Hundred Years piece.
This is how it looked at
the beginning of the month

and this is how it looked
at the end of the month.
FINISHED!
I personalized it for my grandson's kindergarten teacher.  This will be her end of year gift.

Thanks for looking at my WIPocalypse update, now I am off to look at everyone else's updates :)

Sunday's Stitchy Update...

Once again this week I worked on my L*K One Hundred Years and I FINISHED it!

Thanks for all the suggestions to personalize it with the teacher's name.  I charted out her name trying to keep the letters looking similar and added it in at the end along with my grandson's name and year. Now my daughter will buy a frame for it and we will get it ready for the end of the year teacher gift.

Today I pulled out Full Bloom to stitch next but I didn't stitch on it yet...will get to that tomorrow.  Today I wound some floss on their bobbins instead.

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching
see ya next week with another update

Stitching Bloggers Blog Hop

Loretta over at Stitching The Night Away has decided to start a Blog Hop and I think it sounds like fun so I decided to participate; Thanks Loretta!

So here is the FIRST Blog Hop Question:
Have you ever had a case of the “stitching blahs” where you just didn’t want to stitch? Or maybe it was more like you didn’t get to stitch because you were busy and that created a chain reaction sense of the “blahs” and led to even less stitching…. sort of like a case of “the Mondays” that we are all familiar with. How do you handle your stitching blahs and get back into stitching mode?

Are you kidding?  Stitching blahs…?  I had a case so bad that I did not stitch for four years!  YES – FOUR YEARS!

It all started with a combination of a couple of things.  The first was we bought a new house and it just did not have a “space” that I felt comfortable stitching in!  I would sit here and there or in another space and just couldn’t find my comfy spot.  Next my grandson was born and while I think he is a true blessing I just couldn’t leave my stitching stuff out because you know how kids are; anything they shouldn’t touch is exactly what they want.  Needles, fabric, floss, scissors and anything else! I was scared he might put a needle in his mouth or who knows what else might happen so who in the world wants to drag everything out and then pack everything back up each and every time?  Certainly not me as it definitely cuts into the joy and relaxation of stitching.

Anyways ~ I can happily report now though that I am over the blahs!  I have now found my stitching space and Jacob doesn’t bother my things (to much anyway) and I am now happily Stitching The Night Away on all that stash I bought during my stitching hiatus.

Thanks for stopping by and I do hope you will participate in the Blog Hop.
