My Sunday Stitchy Update 01/05/25

Happy New Year everyone! I hope that you are having a great 2025 so far and it will continue on that path. Everything is going well here. We have had another warm week though this week we will going down to the fifties for our high temperatures, I guess that means that our winter is finally creeping in. 

This week I worked a couple of days stitching on the Penguin but I changed fabrics before I continued so I could actually see what I was doing!

This ended up with 333 stitches

Then on the first BRRINGO started in one of my groups. No, I don't know why it is called or spelled that way but it is a cute word. But anyways it is like bingo but instead of numbers you have 25 prompts that are cross stitch related. You arrange them on your bingo card however you want to. Then the caller calls out a prompt number so you know where to stitch. Then you stitch whatever that prompt was an you mark it off. The only thing is we have to have full coverage and then she draws the winners name from all the full coverage cards. I just like the fun of it though and seeing what everyone else is stitching.

So the first number called was 14 and the prompt said "Stitch something that reminds you of a family picnic". I looked through my magazines and found a set of seasonal quilts. I decided to stitch one of them because whenever we went on a picnic my Mom would always bring an old quilt for us to sit on.

This one received 275 stitches

The next day the prompt called was 22 and it said "Stitch something of your choice" and I think that is my favorite prompt since I can just stitch on anything! So I pulled out the Stephen King House so I  could get in some stitches on it. I really want to finish the house so I can get started on the characters!

On Friday the 3rd they wanted us to "stitch something that reminds you of growth." Well I couldn't think of anything when I was filling out the sheet showing what I would stitch. But when I woke up the next day I thought why can't I use one of the flower designs. I picked one and said something like the flowers are always blooming which means they are always growing.

Managed to get in 185 stitches in the garden.

Then came Saturday! The prompt said the I should "Stitch something from my favorite designer!" So today my favorite designer is Peppermint Purple! I have noticed that the trouble with picking my favorite cross stitch anything is that my favorite keeps changing constantly! That is probably why I have so much stash. Oh well. you only live once.

Which brings us to today! YaY!! Today is another flower day. Prompt 10 said to "Stitch something with flowers" and I just so happen to have a piece with flowers! Imagine that! So I pulled out Flowers of the Month by EMS Designs. I am still working on the carnation and it is certainly trying to be difficult!

I only got in 77 stitches today but progress is progress no matter how much I stitch.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 03/15/26

Morning Everyone! I hope you are having a great weekend. We are having terrific weather here. When I was young I thought this was normal for Arizona since they said it is "always hot in Arizona" and when you are young you take everything as literal. We have been between the 70s and 90s all March! It is even  supposed to be over 100 later this week! I must admit, it is even to hot for me this early in the year. Sorry if you were some of the people who had one summer day and then snow the next day. That was pretty crazy!

This week when I spun the wheel, I landed on The Autumn Seasonal Quilt and all week I have been trying to finish this darn quilt! I think that tomorrow it will finally be done and I can move on to other parts of this project; and to think that I have three more seasons to get through! 

So let's see what kind of progress I made...

So that is it for the stitching this week!

As for the books I didn't do that good this week. I couldn't concentrate on listening or reading so I did neither. I did start the second book in the Dark Tower series; The Drawing of the Three. In my opinion. for what that's worth - it is just a little better than the first in terms of the back and forth, past, present and future. People keep telling me to hang in there, they get better... oh goodness; I certainly hope so!

Moving on to my head injury, it is still looking pretty ugly. I think I will call and see if I can get some antibiotics for the big bump on my forehead because it is looking pretty bad and I can't really tell if the swelling is going down or not. It is funny how people will avoid looking at or talking to you when you look like this!

Anyways. I think that is it from me for now.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 04/06/25

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are having a great day. Our weather is a beautiful 72° (22° C) so. I guess Spring is truly on it's way!  Hopefully it won't change it's mind! 

This month in a group I am in we are playing S P R I N G O which of course, is a variation of BINGO. The board is interesting; here is my starting board:

The seven columns were assigned the letter is in SPRINGO and we had to fill in the numbers below the letter and pick a project that relates to that letter (project name, designer's name, item in the picture). When a number is called you see what column it is in and stitch 100 stitches to the project for that column and post the days progress in our album in the group. So far it is fun! Katie over at Jeremiah's Mom is also playing the game. She stitches tons in a day so I have lots of confidence in her finishing her board. Our goal is to get vertical bingos with 5 squares or horizontal bingo with 7 squares. 

So let's see what numbers were called this week.

Up first was 30 which for me was under the letter O, which is for the designer Loretta Oliver. So I had to put in some stitches on my Quilt Block Sampler. I have not stitched on this one since February. I am on the last block so hopefully it will be finished SOON! Though I did see a section where I forgot to stitch around the blocks so I will have remember to go back and finish that too.

The next two numbers that were called was 31 and 08 which both fell under the letter R which I used for the Rainbow in the Twisted Rainbow Sampler. I put this one on my board because I have a long way to go on it and I want to get moving on it!

Then on the 4th they called the number 27! So now I get to move on to the Seasonal Quilt, Autumn with the letter S. I thought this piece would go faster but all the colors in one quilt square certainly does take its sweet old time!

And to wrap up the week the number it was time for the number 28. That is under the letter I which is for Ice for the Penguin Ice Slide. As my followers probably already know any and all penguins are for Jacob since that is his very favorite animal.

And that is it for the week! I normally only stitch for an hour or so after dinner but I think I am going to try to squeeze in some stitches during the days after I do what ever I need to do around the house or else I will only be working on seven pieces for the entire month! 

This week we lost a fellow stitcher and my friend Deb Reik. She was not a blogger but she was on Facebook. We have been friends since way back in the Yahoo Groups Days. She lived in the next state over but her daughter lived here so I would see her and her family quite often.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 05/11/25

I am so sorry about the mix up with the posting. Seems like I have been a little forgetful lately. I will post this on Monday so there is a little separation between the posts.


So this week I got in a bunch of stitching and I hope you will enjoy the pictures.

I started this week off with Nintendo. All I can say about this one is so much green and trees, Trees, TREES! I have a long way to go before they are finished!

The next thing I worked on was the Winter SAL, Dark Nights. I did a lot of outlining/backstitching on it this time. I don't like the backstitch on the last line I was working on that says Warm Mittens, so I will be taking that out and finding a different color.

That brings us to Friday, finally! The day I get together with my stitching friends to do some talking and stitching; though usually more of the talking part. But what a great time we have even if we don't put in a single stitch! I decided to take my Autumn Seasonal Quilt with me because it doesn't take to much concentration, yet. The quilt is taking forever and ever to finish!

Put in 152 stitches to the quilt.

Now I decided to see what I could do with The Enchanted Christmas Snowman. It needs lots and lots of stitches and I will get there eventually! I need to live in a world where I have all the time in the world to stitch! Maybe one day... in the meantime I will start with these 65 stitches for today.

Mother's Day along with a couple of books she wanted.

For Mother's Day a friend of mine, Margie (no blog) painted something for all the ladies in our stitching group. Everyone received a picture of the mountains surrounding Tucson. They all looked magnificent. 

This picture is the one I received. Tucson is surrounded by mountains, which actually makes us a Valley. This is a section of the mountains called Sentinel Peak. 

*This is a historic site below this 2,900-foot peak, the Santa Cruz valley was farmed by the Hohokam Indians as early as 800 AD. When the Spaniards arrived in the 17th century, the Hohokam had vanished and settlements of Piman (this section of Tucson is now called Pima County) people dotted the valley. One settlement called "Schuk-Shon," meaning "at the foot of the black mountain," was pronounced "Tuk-Son" by the Spaniards. The hill was a lookout for these early Indian and Spanish settlers, who lived in fear of hostile raiders. The white washed stone "A" was constructed by University of Arizona students in 1915.

**Sentinel Peak, also known as “A” Mountain, is a prominent landmark, hiking trail, park and sunset-watching destination in the Tucson Mountains on the west side of Downtown Tucson. Every day, hundreds of people walk, bike and drive on Sentinel Peak Road, which climbs and encircles Sentinel Peak Park. The 2,897-foot mountain is made up of several layers of igneous rock representing various types of volcanic activity, though the mountain itself is not a volcano. Sentinel Peak and the surrounding Santa Cruz Valley have a rich archaeological history dating back over 4,000 years. The area’s first inhabitants grew crops at the mountain's base along the Santa Cruz River, which is known as Tucson’s birthplace. Sentinel Peak was used as a lookout and for signal fires by native Americans prior to and since 1692 and later by early settlers as well as soldiers during the Civil War. The "A" was built by University of Arizona (UA) students in 1916. Every year, UA students and alumni kick off Homecoming festivities with a ceremonial lighting of the “A” on the mountain.
