Sunday's Stitchy Update...

Yippee...I have a finish!

This week I finished stitching
The Tribal Dolphin

Now I have a question that I could use some advice on...

I have been considering redoing our bathroom with some of these Tribal designs like the fish and the whale and I am not sure what else.  So my question is when you hang something stitched on hand dyed fabric in the bathroom should you use glass or not?  I know there is a lot of moisture in there so I am not sure what I should do!  Does anyone have any suggestions?

The dolphin looks great on that fabby Faith. I like it a lot.
If I had to put this piece in the bathroom, I personally would go with "No glass," but you must still be careful if the fabby get saturated enough to bleed.

Congrats on your finish, Faith. As for the bathroom, I'm no expert, but I would not use glass if it were my piece. Theresa

If you do put it behind glass which I would be tempted to do. I would put a mat in to keep the stitching from the glass .

Hi Faith. I just found your blog and became a follower. Congrats on the finish. I have seen so many of those stitched tribal pieces on blogs. I have several pieces hanging in the bathroom and they are fine. I don't use glass and would suggest not too. If it gets moisture inside it will meldew the fabric.

Faith -

I have a few stitched pieces in my bathroom and it is covered with glass. Never has a problem, it is probably better to cover to keep the moisture away. It is just important to make sure the back of the frame is sealed with tape or paper.

Oh Faith, I love dolphins and this one is a BEAUTY! I love your idea of decorating with Tribals. :)
I have stitched pieces in my bathrooms and have never put them under glass. They seem to be holding up just fine.

Fantastic finish! Such beautiful thread and fabric.

I would go with the glass, just make sure the frame is well sealed.

Congrats on your finish, Faith. I'm probably not going to be of help with your dilemma but here goes: I have a piece that hung in a bathroom for a while... I matted and put it behind glass. The bathroom had an exhaust fan. My last two bathrooms didn't have exhaust fans and were half the size of the original one, so I've hung the piece outside the door just to be safe.

Love your dolphin, and I really love the fabric. I have no advice on the framing - but after reading your comments, it seems it will be a hard decision.
