Sunday's Stitchy Update...

Well this week I worked diligently on my L*K One Hundred Years and I am just about finished with it :)
As you see I just need to fill in a few words and symbols and it will be FINISHED!

But now I have a question...
This is for an end of the year gift for my grandson's kindergarten teacher and I was wondering if I should personalize it with her name?  I was thinking that maybe I could put her name after the sentence "in the life of a child" in that empty space there. What do you think?  Please feel free to leave me a comment about this or send me an email with your opinion...and thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching
see ya next week with another update

Family Stuff

Remember a few weeks ago I told you guys that I took my grandson to the Reptile Fest and he fell in love with the turtles...WELL he has never stopped talking about them since that day.  Every day he was asking his mom when are we going to get a turtle or are we going to get a turtle today.  They got a bunch of books from the library and read up on them and did some internet searches to read some more and then VIOLA today was the BIG DAY!

So may I please take this time to introduce our newest family member,
Leonardo (aka ~ the blue Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle)

He is a Red Foot Tortiose

and his new house is all set up

and he has made his self at home

and he has had a small dinner of strawberries.
He has has a long and exhausting day and now he is going under his log and calling it a night.

Sunday's Stitchy Update...

Well this weekend was Hermitting Weekend and I got in a day of stitching on Friday I didn't get in much for the rest of the weekend.

Here is an update of my Lizzie*Kate One Hundred Years piece that I have been working on.
However I did get to my LNS Inspired Needle and I got in some STASH ENHANCEMENT
I also got over to Joann's with one of their great 30% of your entire purchase coupons so I picked up a few pairs of 11 inch Q-Snaps
Which in turn made me HAVE to
buy new Q-Snap covers!
Then I ordered some fabric from Silkweavers
and to top it ALL off I got a gift from my friend Mary a DMC floss color chart!
THANKS MARY:)

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching,

What I won!

I received a treasure in today's mail!

A couple of months ago I was one of two winners on a blog called Stitchey Stuff that belongs to Mary Louise in IN...This is what she stitched for me!

I do collect rabbits so
this is extra special to me

I just wanted to say
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
I truly love it!

Monday Movie Recap...

This weekend we caught up with some of our TV shows.  We watched the new shows Scandal and Missing.  They both seem like good shows especially Scandal.  I also got caught up with Celebrity Apprentice ~ I love that show but I do wish that Donald would fire Lisa and/or Aubrey already!

The movie we watched was Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close which was kind of sad, though it was a good movie.

Family Stuff

Yesterday was GRAND DAY
That is the day that when
GRANDMA and GRANDSON
spend the day hanging out together.

First things first...
BREAKFAST at that donut place
Then we are off for a day of adventure at the annual ReptileFest operated by the Chicago Herp Society.
We have been here before and I like the idea of Jacob being able to see, touch and learn about the different animals.  There are so many helpful people there showing their pets and giving advice for people who are considering a reptile as a family pet.

Jacob saw this iguana and he wasn't to sure about him...
...but he decided to pet him anyway.

We spent the day walking around looking at more iguanas, tortoises, snakes, crocodiles and alligators.

Then we got to the TURTLES
and WOW talk about EXCITEMENT
He jumped right into the turtle pen and started playing with them, picking them up and carrying them all around; checking out each and every one of them.

Until he found the PERFECT one!  He decided that he REALLY REALLY needs a box turtle and this is the one he must have!

He came home and told his mom all about it and asked her if he can PLEASE have one.  :)

I don't know if we have the room for one PLUS we have two dogs so we will have to give it some serious consideration before we jump into it; but I am hoping that his mom says yes too!

This Week's Reads...

I put the Higher Court on the back burner to read Jonathan Kellerman’s newest book in the Alex Delaware series Victims. It was most excellent; as always. I really love this series.

Finished listening to The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks and then I listened to another one of his books Safe Haven. Loved them both – think I may get some more of his books to listen to.

Today I started listening to Patricia Cornwell’s book Postmortem. It is the first one in the Kay Scarpetta series and it had my attention right from the start. I will add the rest of the books in this series to my iPod!

What are you reading??

Monday Movie Recap...

This weekend we watched a few movies...

First up was Rango.  We seen it before but my son wanted to watch it again - so we did.

Then we watched Hop.  It was ok but so typical.  Just think the Easter version of the Santa Clause movie.

Then we watched an oldie but goodie on Netflix... Beethoven.  I love that movie.

Sunday's Stitchy Update...

Still not to much stitching going on over here...

I have been working a little (and I do mean a little) on my L*K 100 Years.  I started stitching this again last week and I am going to continue with it this week because it NEEDS to be finished by May as it is a gift.

Here is my progress
I hope to be closer to finished by next weekend!

Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching,
see ya next week with another update!

Family Stuff

Lots of exciting things going
on here with the family.

First off my daughter got her ever first brand new car ;)

She got a 2012 Kia Rio with all the latest gadgets in it.  So far she is really enjoying it.

Secondly my grandson lost his first tooth.  He lost it at school and he was so excited and proud! He is telling everyone we see all about it.  And the best part is he got to put his tooth in his tooth fairy pillow and had $2 in the morning!
YIPPEE for him =0)

Next up is our new puppy (he is about 10 months old) that we picked up from the Humane Society about 2 months ago graduated from puppy school.  He is a Jack Russell Terrier and his name is Bowser.  I think the only thing he learned in puppy school was that if he sits; he gets a treat! He mastered that command and not much else.

He graduated in the top two of his class...not bad considering it was just him and one other dog!  LOL

Today is Easter...went to church first thing this morning and enjoyed a wonderful service.  Then we came home and there was an egg hunt all around the house.  Jacob had an eggcellent day and we have been sitting around having family movie day...ahhh - togetherness ;)

Then my daughter cooked us a wonderful dinner and she topped it off with these cute cupcakes for dessert.
 YUMMY

This Week's Reads...

This week I listened to Catherine Coulter's book Split Second which was the last one in the FBI Series.  This one was actually pretty good and I enjoyed it!

I also read Joanne Fluke's book Cinnamon Roll Murder. I love these books and look forward to the next one...they are fun reads!

After that I read Mile 81 by Stephen King.  It was a SHORT STORY and a little strange...but hey that is Stephen King for you.  =)

Now I am reading a book by a new-to-me author; John Betcher.  The book is A Higher Court and though I just started it today it seems to be pretty good.

Also started listening to a Nicholas Sparks book, The Lucky One.  The movie will be out soon and my daughter and I are planning a chick flick day to see it.

Thursday Night Weigh In :(

I know...I am a day late but - let's just say it was NOT so good this week...and I am VERY upset about it.

I had a 1.4 pound gain and it is very depressing!  However I am NOT going to dwell on it but instead I am going to try to move forward with a positive attitude and a goal of tracking this week.  Hoping that next week there will be a better report here!

Liebster Award :)

I have been awarded the
Liebster Award again ;)
**YIPPEE**

This time I was given the award by my long time internet friend Shelleen!  Her blog Queen Stitcher is always an interesting read as she chronicles her adventures in stitching and beading and tracks the books she reads and her favorite TV shows.

I have already awarded this award to 5 bloggers and listed 5 random facts about my life but I thought this time I would list five random stitchy facts about myself ;)

1.  I taught myself to stitch when I was going thru a blue period in my life...I went to Michael's and walked around looking for something to occupy my mind and the cross stitch section caught my eye and I have been hooked ever since.

2.  I CAN NOT stitch on linen ~ I don't like the way it lines up and it is VERY frustrating.  I also don't like stitching over two, it requires to much concentration...I would rather stitch over one anytime!

3.  I do not know how to stitch specialty stitches... I want to learn - just have to work up the nerve and find a good tutorial or video on YouTube or somewhere...do you know one I can use??

4.  I have lots of finishes that are not finished!  They are put "away for safe keeping" in totes or drawers!  I guess I should get busy and get stuff framed and up on the walls ;)  one of these days!

5.  Like most cross stitchers I am sure...I have WAY MORE STASH (I love geometric type designs and can't help but to buy them!) than I will ever be able to stitch even if I retire today and spend all day stitching BUT I do not let that deter me from buying MORE!
